Did you get a new IR filter??

In this case the 950nm filter is the old no name one...

I have also a "new" one: Sometimes I use a Hoya R72 for some experiments with my modified Sony F828.

But the general image sharpness is not the same...

Next week my new cam comes - you have this nice one already. Of course I will make some IR experiments with this and a 12mm-24mm wide angle lens. For this lens I will try out an old 200mm aperture IR glass filter which was especially made for night view spotlights.

What new camera are you getting? I bet you are excited!
I need to test my two infrared filters to see if I have one good copy and one bad or if it's just the camera. They're both made by OEC and the one I used on the little Canon Powershot S2 IS works right (white foilage), but the 72mm one I use for my wide angle lens on my 5DII gives me foliage that makes me think it's just a very dark red filter. I need to put the smaller filter on my telephoto lens on my 5DII to see if the results are the same. Perhaps it's the camera and not the filter?

Canon has this super strong built in IR blocking filter - so it is difficult to make good ir shots.

But the 5DII with its full format has a very strong light sensitivity (ASA) without producing to strong noise!

So I can hope to make interesting ir shots with the 5DII in future!!!

I've done shots with the 5II, but I haven't compared lenses on the same camera to see if there is a difference. The larger filter on the 5DII is giving me dark foilage like it's just a red filter. I haven't tried the smaller filter on it yet.
