Description
This is at the beginning of "Teapot Lane" (or, as my guide called it, "Temptation Lane"I still miss vending machines everywhere.
If you notice, red buttons signify hot drinks, such as coffees or hot lemonade, etc...blue buttons are cold drinks like sodas and energy drinks and juices.
I should have taken a photo of the vending machine on the floor of my Kyoto hotel...besides the usual hot and cold offerings it also interestingly offered cans of rice crackers and mini-bottles of liquor. Not to mention the ticket machine next to it that sold, ahem, adult pay per view tickets for your room if so desired. (and, I might add, this was NOT a sleazy hotel by any means.)

I love Japanese vending machines too!
In Czech republicΒ there are just a few vending machines and often broken or somehow damaged, it's a shame!
Well, I remember in Japan of 1990s I bought by mistake one adult TV card in my hotel ... I thought it is telephone card ... it was a surprise!

You forgot to mention the lack of trash cans there. And who could forget beer and cigarette vending machines as well.

Oh yes, the trash can thing. That, and I never figured out what KINDS of trash were classed as what. But I guess with as many people as they have there, they probably couldn't keep up with the public trash removal, that might be why.

If you noticed the lack of trash cans made the city overall cleaner because people would then take the trash to other locations like Family Mart where there are trash cans; also they are very big on recycling there so you will see recycling containers as well as trash bins.
