This is a rather beautifully simple illustration of self consciousness. Very well done. I especially like that you did both female AND male versions, as it's often disregarded that boys ever have self image issues.
My fiance is one such exception. Such a handsome young man he is, and yet he's probably 10x as self conscious as myself.
Anywho, well done. Makes a point without being too heavy handed. Keep it up. :3

I read this as "Must paint ugly self with a beautiful girl" when I saw the other version of this drawing >3< Ha ha I'm dumb. Anyway, this is really beautiful. You seldom draw males (unless they're for something like deIz), so I rather like this. I don't know why you don't draw them more often... we know you're straight mike LOL

Okay so apparently some people understood what the girl's visual of this meant but the same rule applies:
both genders of our world have to live up to the many expectations of the world. "If you're ugly you're screwed"
Yet, when you look at the two, both the girl and the guy are both plain if not beautiful looking. Media and other people will always judge your appearence even if you're already nice looking and these two are creating a mask to hide their "ugly old self" into something "beatiful" that society would want to see.

I think it's trying to show that... when you feel as if your not beautiful enough, the only way to rid yourself of it, is to 'cover' yourself with something beautiful.
In a way it's kinda like girls who cover themselves with makeup
they don't think they're pretty enough, so the only solution is makeup.
