Long time without posting superman so here goes.I cant say I digg the new superman suit...maybe I´m just not used to it, maybe it´ll grow on me, maybe i have to draw it over and over again before i like it.
Mainly I don't like it because it´s too high-tech....on Batman this works Ok, but the way I see it for superman, the simpler, the better.
One idea I think worked though is the pants, so i was sketching it as simple as I could but trying him with the pants instead of the red classic underwear(...although it would be more visible with colors...)
I think I´ll be trying to sketch him with the new suit to actually see if i can learn to like it.

I thought his suit was so icon it was fun and cool enough to withstand modern era and wayward fans but apparently it was just me!! ha

looks cool, man. my only critique would be that the legs dont match his upper body. it looks like his upper body is facing slightly left (viewer's left, his right), but his legs seem to be facing straight on. rotate from the belt down to match up with the center-line and you'd be gold!

Hi Jack, thanks for the critique. The way I see it, I think the legs can be facing straight and there can be a rotation on the upper body...sure I could have put him all in straight position, but I try to give it a twist (in other words try to makes things harder haha)...the thing is I should have showed it better with the lines, his pants and belt should show that twist better, as the upper-body is shadowed it does n´t read the way I wanted it to...Hope I didn´t get too confusing here.

The new Superman suit sucks. It's absolutely terrible. The belt looks lame, and the suit is all chunky. ...And Oh, God the boots.
They should have gone for a sleek look with no shorts, included more yellow, darkened the blue and the red, BUT gave it a metallic sheen. And no turtle-neck thing!
And what the hell is up with the crest???
Anyway, your image looks awesome. Classic Superman is the shit.

Thanks man, yeah,, that´s the way I feel, stuff like that works on batman, cause of the high-tech and all, but they should put it on all of the new designs...oh well...no choice but to get used to it now...

The legs are lacking a bit of depth and the waist is a bit flat again. I think he needs to come in tighter around the waist and bit wider at the hips. The legs need to be bigger generally as well. It's so long since I drew a person I wonder if I am qualified to say anything anyway, I certainly can't draw like this! but the lower half is just too small and weedy!

The fact its different is the biggest hurdle really to accepting it, I think it will depend on how he looks when it comes to the crunch. When done right superman (like any superhero) define the moment with their costume (along with the posture) I also think the high tech does make superman look a bit less super but I don't think it's too big a departure for now, the drawing is good by the way as always. I say give it time, like a major story event or something like that to put the style to the test.
P.s: You can post that street fighter commission in ink I know your waiting for payment on colouring (which will be next week) but the drawing in ink form is just freakin badass (ok it may trauma a few chun li fans but whatever)
