Just one thing, no matter if it's steel or leather, don't use white for the shines.

Because if you use a light tone of the light-source's colour (yellow if it's the sun, for example) your work will look more "pro", but if you use white people will think you were lazy and used dodge

Sometimes this is true, but alas the light source in this *is* white, that's why everything is so washed. And no, I don't use dodge.
