Description Anubis.. The Jackal... This one was fairly tricky to visualize before setting forth and creating it... This is the next piece in my egyptian themed fractal set.

Created in ultrafractal 3.05.. hope you like.

I love how all the lines blend together...

thanks... one of my favorite parts of this piece is how the lines of the main structure are slightly assymmetric.. makes it look like it's reaching or something/growing.. I tried to make all the pieces in the egyptian set appear to have a lot of movement...

Very cool image! It definitly has an ancient, mysterious feeling to it.

Well done . Bold color gradient adds to the overall drama.

thanks... glad you pointed that out actually.. I wasn't so sure at first and my first coloring was much more sandy and subdued... after I added the rippling, it just didn't feel right, and opted for something a little more enegetic. Good to know someone else thinks the same way.

We've all had fractal works ruined by using the wrong gradients. Often tweaking the gradient is better than tweaking the formula. I imagine that most graphic artists have the same problem, since proper use of color and space is often a main contributor to the success of a piece. Your use of the bolder pallete in Anubis added greatly to the overall effect, at least in my unlettered opinion.

This is great! Anubis was a great "bad guy" in the Egyptian pantheon. The spikiness adds to his dark power. This was not a god to mess with!

I am almost tempted to add some sort of red jewel to the center there...

Even though Ruby Eyes were a part of the myth, I think you could leave the jewel out! Too much of a good thing maybe? But don't listen to me! Try one out and see if you like it!

That is cool. Nice use of Sine_Mod (if that is what the dark shape is). I also like how you've tweaked the gradient to make it all 3d and spiky looking. To background too is wonderful; not only does it complement the main image, but it also evokes an Egyptian pyramid. The textures are also wonderful. Actually, the whole thing is wonderful and I am stunned that it does not have any faves yet.

It does now.

Thanks so much.

I think it will do better once I am around for more time and have a few more visitors to my gallery. I am still very new here (less than 2 weeks new.) and have only had a chance to meet a small group of people.

The whole thing except for a few texture layers is done with thingamajigs over a continued fractions julia.

thanks! if you can imagine.. I had to work on this upside down in UF... only after render was it rotated... I figgered it was easier than mapping every single layer as I went... never again. lolz
