It's a shame it didn't end up how you wanted, but I think it looks great! I love your use of tone, especially on her pants. And the boots look awesome; you've given them a very nice texture (:

And yes, watercolours are tricky; a lot of people have a different goal in mind when working with them. I have friends that make very solid colours with them, but I prefer a much more watered down look.Β And trying to get the right level of water to paint ratio...oh em gee lol
But you definitely did a good job with this one; especially with those highlights! The lighting is gorgeous!

Great control of the medium; watercolors are hard to direct/contain to specific areas without too much bleeding. You did it pretty well!
