Wait, what? Do Russian surnames change depending on gender or something?

Not only surnames, but all words in general have three genders:Β masculine, femenine and neuter. Example: "on" (he), "ona" (she), "ono" (it).

Ah, gotcha. I know of the general feminine/masculine words, but didn't know it applied to some surnames as well.

Yeah, right! Some surnames, because all the rules have exceptions, for example "Litvyak" or "Kozhedub" don't have feminine forms, but "Pokryshkina", "Maresyeva", as you see, have.

Perfect.
And yeah, exchanged her dress shirt for a regular shirt. She looks somewhat more of an engineer now, with her tunic tied around her waist. Or maybe a mechanic.
