Sweat and breathe heavily? What are you thinking about, again?
I know what you mean, though. I don't honestly know if we can handle the feels. I guess we'll find out when we see the movie, but I won't deny that I dread the moment, as much as I want to see the movie.

Jesus, I hope to christ I get to see it asap! Lucky! My English teacher (whom introduced us to the book) used to take us every year when it came out in theaters. Last year, we went december 21st and they year before that around the same time.
He won't take us this time because he says they changed too much in the movie. WHO CARES?! YOU CAN'T JUST NOT SEE IT.
So now we're trying to find someone to take us to see it. Many of us are turning desperate lol we might all go see it individually... but I've no idea when.

Oh, I really hope you can see it! You're right. It doesn't matter that they changed things from the book, really. The movie is a story in its own right and you have to see the last installment. Plus, I hear it's really good. I wouldn't miss having a good time at the cinema just because they changed the book. Β

IK. THORIN'S FREAKING FACE WAS SO REALISTIC I LEGIT COULDN'T BREATHE, OK. I was so pissed when Bilbo and the rest of the company didn't have this huge family hug because reasons and leaving and goodbyes -cries-
Billy Boyd's song was brutal for me though. Uuuuugh it's such a good song though. And "I See Fire" ONLY. GETS. SADDER. After watching the last movie.
I have so many feels about this I can't -hyperventilates-

Hey, sorry for taking such a long time to reply! Life...
Anyway, yeah, major feels overload in this movie. It took me a while to put myself together. I also felt the company broke up a little too abruptly, and you know what else makes me a bit angry? When Thorin is dying and he apologizes to Bilbo, I wish that Bilbo had done more than just stare at him. I wish he'd told Thorin that it was OK, that he was forgiven, and that he was actually a great person. He said he was glad to share in his perils, but I felt that wasn't enough. Poor Thorin...

DarkenedSoul12 In reply to MirielOfGisborne [2015-02-27 12:13:27 +0000 UTC]
Yeah Life e.e I feel you.
Yeah same, it was so 'brutal' that I couldn't cry.
True, THE SHIP WAS SO STRONG IN THAT MOVIE though I swear. I figured Bilbo wouldn't be able to stop talking because he couldn't bring himself to realize what was happening to Thorin, you know? But he stays quiet.
I think Fili died kind of quickly though D: and Dwalin... I don't remember well but where the hell did he go when Thorin was fighting Azog? (I think Thorin sent him to find Fili and Kili but we never see him after that, like, honestly it wouldn't take him to realize what was going down) They probably did that to get Thorin alone with Azog.
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO APPRECIATES THE TOTAL SMUG FACE THORIN MAKES WHEN HE TAKES AZOGS' MACE AND DROPS IT INTO THE WATER. It was beautiful hahaha but as SOON as I saw Azog underwater, just drifting, I started like, yelling at the damn screen:
"GET AWAY FROM HIM, GET OFF THE ICE, GET OFF THE ICE, GET OFF THE IIIIIIICE."
And he didn't get off the ice and I then proceeded to break down in frustration saying that if he had listened, he's still be alive lol.
One last thing, is it just me, or did he just... give up the last time he fights Azog?
π: 0 β©: 1
MirielOfGisborne In reply to DarkenedSoul12 [2015-02-28 08:22:42 +0000 UTC]
I think Dwalin had run off to help Bilbo. When the second wave of orcs comes and Bilbo's all scared, you can see Dwalin jumping to his rescue. It made me a bit angry, to be honest. He should have stayed with Thorin and protected him.
Oh, no, you're not the only one! I love the face Thorin makes when he drops Azog's mace into Azog's arms in fact. It was good thinking, but then he had to go and follow him as he drifted under the ice. I suppose Thorin wanted to make sure that Azog was dead, but it was so obvious that he wasn't and that he would attack at some point
And, well, he didn't exactly give up. He decided to take the blow so that he could free his arm and stab Azog back. He chose to sacrifice himself in order to kill Azog and thus end the battle. I also love that he gets on top of Azog and looks into his eyes as he dies. It's a moment of triumph for Thorin. Even if he also dies shortly after, at least he can be at peace that he finally killed his archenemy and that his people are safe.
I still think he should have lived, though. After everything he went through, he would have deserved a normal, happy life.

DarkenedSoul12 In reply to MirielOfGisborne [2015-03-09 12:37:49 +0000 UTC]
Omg yes, if you think about it, Bilbo was MUCH safer than Thorin; he had the mithril armor and the ring. I mean sure, if someone were to cut off his head, he'd die... but he's a hobbit. He can duck and hide in small spaces. I actually wish Bilbo had somehow managed to sneak closer to Thorin before he was knocked out -cries- talk about bad luck e.e
Omg it was just beautiful, haha. I KNOW! I wouldn't have thought of that, while he was doing that I was literally bitching at the screen, yelling: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING???? FINISH HIM???? Then I saw him give the mace to Azog and with this amazing 'bitch' grin/smug smirk, step off the ice and watched Azog fall. I was literally going OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Yeah, make sure he's dead... and that's FINE. But as soon as I saw Azog under the ice, I died. I KNEW he was going to do the 'follow the corpse to make sure it's a corpse' bs. I kept telling a screen not to follow Azog, haha. I mean, if it was SO OBVIOUS to us that Azog still lived, WHY, IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD HADN'T HE NOTICED OR THOUGHT ABOUT IT??? But then again, it's a movie and Thorin was really adamant that Azog die.
True. Yeah that was cool, and then he gets up and walks to the edge and looks over the battle field.... That was sad too, in a way. And then he spots the eagles and collapses and Bilbo rushes to his side and I basically break.
SAME. I wonder why it was apparently said that they would spare Thorin in the movies when they actually stuck to the book??? I had like, HOPE. haha. It would have been nice to seem him grow old and pass on the crown to (omg idk who would take over since Fili and Kili didn't survive the battle... Dain maybe?) and go with Bilbo to the Shire and see how the tree had grown or something along those lines.

MirielOfGisborne In reply to DarkenedSoul12 [2015-03-23 08:05:48 +0000 UTC]
You're right, the 'follow the corpse to make sure it's a corpse' thing was very predictable, and that, to me, is a problem with this movie. It makes the characters look stupid if I know they're going to do something stupid and they do it, and that's not OK in my book. Same with Thorin taking off his armor before going into battle. What the hell was that? There are theories that he did it to prove his honor, but going into a battle of that magnitude wearing nothing but flimsy chainmail and with your chest exposed, that's stupid. It was sexy, but stupid.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, btw Β

DarkenedSoul12 In reply to MirielOfGisborne [2015-03-23 21:08:27 +0000 UTC]
True, I mean... Thorin, a battle-hardened warrior who has probably been in this situation before... just randomly does this without an OUNCE of caution? I found that slightly hard to believe, but then you could argue that he just wanted to make sure Azog was truly dead this time.
I KNOW, I thought I was the only one who caught on to that! I was like, wait, wtf where did his golden armor go? I mean... (ok sexy yes, but sexy don't protect your vital organs from blows in a battle) he didn't even wear LIGHT armor???
I have a feeling they only did that because Thorin had to die during the fight, which (to me) is bullshit? Like, I could've sworn that in the book they all went off in their Royal Armor? Even Fili and Kili took off their armor... (although, they had more going for protection than Thorin) but STILL.
Like I said, they're all warriors who've fought in battles before... one would expect a little more common sense and caution from these guys?
And omg no, that's fine. I haven't been on so much, myself, lately. I'm hoping to change that haha
π: 0 β©: 1
MirielOfGisborne In reply to DarkenedSoul12 [2015-04-20 07:22:47 +0000 UTC]
The thing about the armor is, they still died in the book even if they wore armor. And, after talking to some people who work with Medieval stuff, I've learned that the golden armor was probably too heavy to fight in anyway. Then again, I seem to remember Thror wearing it in Moria... Anyway, Thorin did have a chainmail shirt on, but even that was all open in front, so I didn't really see the point to it.
I was at HobbitCon recently and had the chance to hear Graham McTavish speak about why they went into battle without protection. Someone asked him that, and he said that they saw it as a suicide mission. They didn't expect to get out alive from the battle, and so they didn't have any use for armor.
