Remember the game booklet you got when you purchased the very first Spyro game?Remember that big purple dragon at the end of the booklet?
Yeah, same guy, but he's got a name this time: Coal.
You'll be seeing him in Fairytales soon, but for now here's a teaser, cuz I'm a big fat tease

Oh thank god. I thought I was the only one that looked at the pictures in that tiny booklet for hours and over thought things. I thought he was the leader of the dragon realms myself but since he was never explained I didn't spend to much time on him. Coal. I like that. Cute picture. What is fairytales?

There was actually some debate about the grown purple dragon, some believed him to be a relative of Spyro's or Spyro all grown up. No one really knows which gives many of us a good fanfic material.
But in my stories he is and his name is Coal.

On a website that helped advertise the game, he showed up under the name "Papa Dragon" so I guess he could have been considered his dad, but no one really knows.

I think the dragon at the end of that booklet was an adult Spyro.
At least it makes sense to call him Coal in this artwork since Spyro is in it.

Aww, Daddysnuggles. Sort of a weakness of mine, actually. ^^ Widdle Spyro looks so precious curled up and sleepy like that. I especially like his teeny wings, for some reason. Also the scaling patterns on either side of their belly scales. I love this picture. Keep up the good work!

thanks, during my hunt to gather research material, I had come across various screenshots of the actual gameplay where Spyro had these scales running down either sides of his belly. I thought that was soo awesome, so I started doing that to all the old school dragons.
