Thanks so much!  I really appreciate all your work pulling this out of my head!  Since this was requested as art for the blog series I'm working on, the best link would be specifically for episode one on my blog and I would love the plug very much

musesings.wordpress.com/2013/0…

For anyone else reading this right now, these two are actually the same person.  On the left is Lesara from the past (Lesara as she appears currently in Silent Rain, the blog series).  On the right is Lesara as she appears currently (only in RP; blog series hasn't caught up to present yet), and believe it or not, she's still a priestess!  If it'd been up to her, she probably would have chosen druidism, but she's quite happy as a priestess of Elune's holy aspect.

Thanks again, Mischi, you're awesome!

If you don't mind, how did her hair color change? Is it dye or the result of some magical process?

I don't mind at all.  I actually have it that her mother was weirdly obsessed with white hair to the point that she included a mix of herbs in the hair wash Lesara used throughout her life that would drain the colour along with nourishing hair and all that jazz.

So, in the past, using that homemade wash, Lesara's hair was white.  It wasn't until a few years after her mother's death that she stopped making and using it and her hair reverted to its natural shade of green.  The herbs that drained the colour weren't labeled, just included as ingredients.  So making that hair wash after her mother's death was kinda like using an old family cookbook and not realizing part of the ingredients were in there to make up for deficiencies in your great great grandmother's wood stove or something of the sort

That is not only fascinating but very touching as well - it's as though with her mother, that habit they shared was lost. It's hard to say without reading more of her story, but one could imagine that it was a significant change in her life and not just about the hair color.
I also noticed that her tattooing appears green and more extensive - life changes to match the outfit changes?

And...well, this is a preference thing, but why Wordpress instead of Fanficiton dot net?

Well now you've got me glowing because it seems you're also checking out Silent Rain.  It is also on fanfiction.net actually!  www.fanfiction.net/s/10225643/…

I have a difficult time getting use to fanfiction.net so I haven't been in awhile.  Just now it took me about 10 minutes to see if I had any notification and another 5 to give up and search my own story out in games for that link.

I took a break from Silent Rain as it seemed no one was reading it anymore, but I've been thinking of picking it back up again.  Definitely would if at least one person is reading.  Otherwise, I'll eventually finish it.  Heck, I may pick it up soon regardless.  Half of episode 12 is sitting in my notebook still.  Sooooo, now I want to avoid spoilers in addressing what you said about the connection with her mother.

Also, she still has the purple crescent moon tattoo on the right.  I even had Mischi put in a-nearly-impossible-to-see hint of it.  Either way, yes, significant changes ahead for Lesara that gets her looking more like a druid than a priestess.  The drastic difference is not arbitrary

I'm absolutely thrilled to see a writer picking up an unfinished story - seeing a good, well developed backstory that isn't finished is always like a mini-tragedy. Considering how much you've put into exploring this character Lesara's past I can already tell that it will be a joy to read. I tend to review every chapter, so if that's annoying I can try to tone it down.

Now I'm new to FF too, but there are a few things worth knowing. First is that most readers never review, so even if you have a lot number of reviews, there are people who enjoy the story.
Second is that cliché stories tend to be the most popular, unfortunately. Really deep, profound stories are often overlooked while run-of-the-mill save the world/who will Anduin Wrynn marry stories always get the most comments. Not much to be done about that.
Third is that eventually, people will read. I know of a very popular writer on there who had literally like two comments for the first few months of her story. Two years after finishing it and she has a few *hundred* comments. It isn't always immediate and I know I've stumbled upon things like Silent Rain before.
Remember to log in when checking for alerts and don't give up hope! If you enjoy writing something, then for sure someone will enjoy reading it.

As for Lesara, then she sounds fascinating! I'm one of those people who like the lore for Warcraft 3 more than the online game World of Warcraft, so the life of the nelves around the time or Nordrassil and the loss of their immortality poses an incredible set of both plotline and philosophical questions. I'm adding Silent Rain to my alerts and I look forward to reading through it!

Feedback on every chapter would be greatly appreciated.  I write the story "live" with minimal editing or I'd never put it out there to begin with.  So, whichever way you review, I would find helpful, whether it be general impressions and theories, or fact checking things I flubbed and edits.  Don't pressure yourself though.  If you'd like to read just to enjoy, I don't really mind.

I did figure I'd get more reads once it's finished.  A big part of why I stopped was also losing interest in the game (I RP Lesara in WOW) and once I got that interest back...Well, I've been writing full steam on character stories and googledoc RP involving other characters.  My writing habits have improved and I'm up to writing at least 3 pages a day on character stories and googledoc RP material.  I've recently begun harnessing that habit toward writing my own scenes and stories.

It also didn't help that friends were getting far more interested in characters and background stories more relevant to our RP.  Though...Silent Rain is now relevant, regardless.  The surprising angle for that, however, is that Silent Rain has become relevant through RP with side characters in it such as Lesara's brother, Kalshen.

Regardless, thanks for the mini-jolt of inspiration.  I now feel like writing up episode 12 while my primary RP buddy is busy for the day.  Gonna get some lunch and sit myself down.  I know where this story is going, I'm at a "filler" section of it though.  I need to find things to jam in there before the next major scene (not useless fluff either, but something that shows the next part of the plot happening over a period of time rather than just plopping it full-blown in the reader's face).

I've been keeping up most with all of these characters on my RP character tumblr blog, actually:  worldofbeancraft.tumblr.com if you have one too, would love to follow you!

Sometimes it takes a catalyst to bring a story back to life; outside feedback doesn't always do the trick, but hopefully it will here. Honestly I have a feeling it will be an enjoyable story to read given the amount of drivel in Warcraft fanfics - too many cases of rushed stories and characters with no backgrounds.

One good source of inspiration - it isn't guaranteed, just a suggestion - is to read. An English teacher once told me that if you can read, you can write. There are certain stories within the Warcraft universe that are considered the "must reads" of fanfiction and they're rather good examples of prose. The nice thing about reading is that you only continue as long as you like, too - you can just check things out to see if the words form a good model of writing or not.

Unfortunately, I'm still social media illiterate and DA and FF are all I have. FF is for actual long stories, DA is for oneshot drabble I use to break writer's block. It's less visible here but you'd be surprised: writing one single scene that doesn't tie into anything else and which might just be a clip from everyday life can help you explore characters' attitudes and backstories in a way you might not have done otherwise.

Happy writing - I do hope you find the inspiration necessary to finish the story properly!

I can attest to one-shot practice!  Lots of one-shot scene-bite practice last two months since I started RP in WOW again.   Follower-based character questions on tumblr are a good source of inspiration for that (though I find tumblr even more difficult to navigate than fanfiction.net).  I'd hazard to say that other than your interest and questions regarding the character and storyline, character scene one-offs are also what has me eyeing Silent Rain again.

I just wrote a one-off yesterday from Ren's point of view (character who just recently entered Silent Rain) before she stowed away on a ship bound for Kalimdor.  I suppose I can start posting those little bites on Deviant Art as well.  I usually throw them up on tumblr, my wordpress blog, and guild forums.  A few extra places never hurt anyone, I suppose!

I have a few other scenes in my head today, but Silent Rain 12 is percolating now too.  No time like the present!  Especially since my primary RP buddy has thrown herself in with my elves (we were mostly focused on our draenei until recently).  I eventually plan to start checking yours out too, though I'm less reliable on feedback (I will try), mostly because of my memory and focus problems.

Think I'll post that Rena scene here.
