This is the world I have created for my closed species: QuillDogs, PhoeFoxes, and Jackalunas. J This world isn’t mandatory (your QD/Phoefox/Jackaluna is free to exist outside of this world!)… just fun!

-ORIJI-

Also known as “The Old Continent.” This is the native land of the first QuillDogs to exist, and it served as a fitting place for multiple generations of QuillDogs to call home. Due to a terrible disaster, the land is now sick, parched, burnt and in severe drought. A true hell on earth. Few creatures call this land home. 24. Fissure Pools-- located to the south and north of the Chasm, these deadly whirlpools were created by the earthquakes and fissures that caused the Chasm to be created.

25. The Chasm (The Divide)-- The large divide that split the land of Oriji in two, long, long ago.

26a and 26b. Oriji -- Also known as the "Land of Death" and "The Old Continent." The original homeland of QuillDogs. After the Chasm had formed, the Oraja clan inhabited the western side (26a, extending west and south off the map) and the Nokti clan inhabited the eastern side (26b, extending south off the map).

-AQUILLI-

Created through the self-sacrifices of two eagle deities, Kun and Pavati, this land that the QuillDogs from Oriji escaped to, and is what many QuillDogs call home today.

1. Nisama Mountains-- cold, treacherous rock mountains-- some of which are snow-capped; very difficult to survive in. The wind howls here often, and it is the highest elevation within all of Aquilli. There are many caverns and precious jewels and other commodities to be found here. They say that dragons still inhabit these peaks.

2. Nisama (Human Village)-- at the base of the mountains, there is a human village; humans have built into the mountainsides and have created homes, and have made their living by mining and ironworking in the nearby mountains. The people here are hardworking, resilient and brash.

3. Skyeri Falls and Creek-- the falls found within the Nisama mountains pool together to form the Skyeri Creek, which flows down from the mountains and foothills and into the larger Skyee River. Skyeri Creek is beautiful and clean, and flows slowly over the slopes of the land.

4. Azarcia Foothills-- the tree and vegetation-covered foothills right at the base of the Nisama Mountains; this is where many wild beasts hunt for food.

5. Tundara Northern Reach--A seemingly simple, completely frozen-over wasteland that extends into the sea. During the summer, this land melts and the ice breaks apart into large, moving sheets, and becomes quite a dangerous place to live. It snows here often and the ground is almost always white. They say that one might be able to make it to Padisi Heavens in the coldest winter if the ocean freezes from here.

6. Skyee River-- The river that flows into the Tundara Norther Reach; this river is fast churning and very turbulent and easily affected by the melting ice during the summer months.

7. Owloot Taiga (Forest)-- To the southwest of Tundara there is a taiga forest, primarily with large old-growth evergreen trees and mossy forested floor that the sunlight tries to feebly penetrate. Forest-dwelling creatures have become very skilled in hunting this terrain.

8. Crooked Wing Bay-- A small, curved beach that leads out to the Northern Sea; the waters here are very calm and shells often wash unto shore here. To the QuillDogs’ knowledge, no human has ever stepped foot here. The climate here is temperate.

9. Twidusk Forest (Forest-Jungle)-- an impressive, expansive forest-jungle that sports huge, hundred-foot trees, twisting vines and nearly impenetrable vegetation and roots. There is great biodiversity here and it is a subtropical area.

10. Caja Swamp-- the southern edge of the Twidusk Forest subtly morphs into the swamplands, which have large trees resting in standing, vegetation-covered backwaters. It is easy to get lost in this area, and it becomes very hot and humid in the summers here. They say that if you come to Caja Swamp, you can still see the smoke across the ocean, from fires burning in Oriji. Witches and their huts are rumored to be found here.

11. Meernia River-- A healthy, vivacious river teeming with fish flows into and through Twidusk Forest, and it is moderately turbid. It is set apart from the other watersheds present on Aquilli by its moss-covered rocks that line much of the river.

12.Nautila (Human Port-town)-- Near the edge of the territory sits a port-town established by humans. Many boats sit at harbor here, and the bulk of the community make their living fishing. They seldom venture into the forest, with the exception of gathering firewood from the southern-edge trees of the forest.

13. Ofeso (Human Village) and surrounding countryside-- A small, quiet and quaint agricultural human community resides here. They say that Ofeso is the oldest of all the human communities found on Aquilli. Surrounding this village is a patchwork of cropfields and pastures of livestock, easily converted from the meadows and woodlands that once covered this area of the land.

14. Iris Pool-- A circular, deep pool that many Ofeso folk draw their water from. The pool is bright blue in color and many believe that if you drink from the pool, you will be granted wisdom and insight. It is rumored that the pool doubles as a portal to another realm.

15. Sickle Woods-- In the southeastern region of the Tilnu territory, there is a small but thick patch of woods that curve along the edge of the land, giving it it's namesake. Within these woods rests two large stone eagle-shaped statues that are completely overgrown with vines and vegetation.

16. Firedog Lighthouse-- At the end of the Sickle Woods, there is a human-made, canine-shaped lighthouse, with his mouth open wide and a huge fire blazing within, lighting up much of Julari Bay.

17. Bone Beach—This long stretch of beach is seldom visited, as it is often associated with bad omens and death. There is no sand here, but rather nothing but bones.

18. Laylin (Human City)-- The largest human city within Aquilli, this is centrally located in the land, and is the capitol of trade, military, politics and industry. The king of the land resides here (his castle sits at the highest point in the city), as well as a large portion of his footarmy.

21. Julari Bay-- The bay that is surrounded by Aquilli, Birth and Death Islands, and mostly utilized by Nautila, the Port-Town.

22. South Sea -- The sea located to the south of Aquilli. The waters here are very turbid and warm.

23. North Sea -- The sea located to the north of Aquilli. The waters here are very still and constantly cold; sometimes, the sea freezes over during the cold snaps of winter.

38. Sulai’s Temple – An overgrown jungle temple that Sulai inhabits.

-BIRTH AND DEATH ISLANDS-

19. Birth Island-- Created by the falling feather, this Island is said to be blessed. Life and beauty continuously grow here, and there is a large wishing well placed here by the humans. This wishing well is also a secret route to where many QuillFoxes live.

20. Death Island-- Created by the falling feather, this Island is said to be cursed. Nothing seems to live here at all, and there is a vast cemetery located here.

-PHOENIX ISLE-

27. This small, compact island is where the Phoenix once resided, and resurrected the lost lives of multiple QuillDogs (Summer Phoenix Festival 2017). This island sports a steep mountain terrain shrouded in thick jungle vegetation, and is quite difficult to navigate.

28. and 29. These tiny islands haven’t been given names by their researchers, but researchers have noted that these two islands have strange magnetic properties and align with odd laylines. They believe they may serve as some sort of natural lock and key for potential treasure.

-EKKRU-

Ekkru is a unique medium-sized continent that is continuously enveloped in the autumn season. Year-round, orange and golden leaves fall to the ground and pumpkins and gourds decorate the landscape. This is the land where PhoeFoxes originate, and many still call home.

30. Ekk (Human village) – A small village seemingly frozen in time, and its inhabitants are peaceful and kind. Many of the people here make a living harvesting apples and other fruit from the nearby woods, while others set sail and trade with fellow humans across the sea in Aquilli.

31. Asteria’s Willow – The famous willow tree that holds a phoenix’s nest, where an egg was kept warm by a small fox. This act of kindness gave rise to the PhoeFoxes!

32. Chant Beach – A quaint beach extending out westward from the autumn forests. It’s said that many mysterious items end up in these sands, from messages in bottles to pieces of wrecked ships! Rumor has it that at midnight, the howl of a scorned she-wolf can be heard echoing over the waves here.

-KONSHU-

33. Konshu is a crescent-shaped island that is inhabited by the mysterious Jackaluna species! This island’s presence cycles with the moon—on nights of a new moon, the island cannot be found, and on nights of a full moon, the island is revealed to be a nearly spherical perfect circle!

34. Tritempi – Shrouded by dark forest, three silver pyramids sit aligned with the stars. It is said that the temples are important to the Jackaluna’s rituals involving the moon.

35. An odd, unnamed blazing purple well can be found in the middle of the island during certain moon phases. Like Tritempi, researchers believe this well to be important to the Jackaluna’s mysterious moon rituals.

-PADISI HEAVENS-

36. The realm between the mortal world and the heavens is blurred here, and they say that during a cold, frozen winter, one might be able to traverse across the ocean and into the heavens. The heavenlands are draped in beautiful hues of blue, and punctuated by countless stars and celestial bodies. Multiple QuillDog (and other) deities call this area home. It is said that only the pure of heart can enter.

-THE DARK SHADOW-

37. Looming to the south is a dark and twisted shadowy place, that many do not go near for fear of their life. Dark creatures have been spotted at this area’s edges, waiting in silence like predatory, ravenous beasts, hungering for their next meal. They say that storms are brewed here.

Remember that none of this is "official" yet, and that I'm merely seeking opinions and thoughts on this all! Also, aboslutely none of this is "required" by any QD owner; this whole backstory and world would help support roleplay if you would so choose to participate in such (again, roleplay would never, ever be required by a QD owner-- it would only ever be an option that would always be open to ya!) So far, I've composed and origin story, clans, and the lands/maps/territories that they inhabit! Let me know what you all think.
The Legend of Origin and the QuillDog Clans:
"Many Moons ago, the number of moons so great that no one alive today can remember exactly, there was a rich and fertile land. This land was of great expanse, taking many months to travel from one shore to the opposite. A wonderful array of vegetation occupied much of this land, whose habitats varied as much The Phoefox Origin StoryMany moons ago, there was a small village that was continuously enveloped in the autumn season. Year-round, orange and golden leaves fell to the ground and pumpkins decorated the corners. The village seemed to have been frozen in time, and its inhabitants were peaceful and kind.
The village's sole protector was resilient, wise, loving and concerned herself with the villagers-- she was a beautiful, multi-colored phoenix named Asteria.
Asteria's dear mate, Mordecai (who was once a village protector, too), had perished in a valiant battle many hills away-- protecting his village from their enemies. The villagers never even knew of what troubles existed beyond their community.
When a phoenix dies, they typically experience rebirth from their ashes.
This time was different; Mordecai never came back from his ashes this time. Asteria waited and waited, until his ashes were swept away by the winds. He never came back. She didn't understand; he should've returned. Why wasn't he returning?! Why. sta.sh/021tvvpczq8
