Description
Eye tutorial from my latest wall "Purity". AP: [link] dA: [link]Requested by many to see how I make eyes.
Enjoy.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Edit: Answers to some questions -
1. This was made in Photoshop CS2.
2. The pic you see is at 100% size - the same size I painted it at. I used 100dpi.
(Gosh this is my second tutorial...this one took forever to put together! @_@)

This is an AWESOME tutorial. Normally eye tutorials disappoint me, but this one challenges me. Thank you!! <3

Glad to hear that! I'm curious which parts you preferred to those other ones. This is one of my older tuts/walkthroughs so by now I'd probably explain things differently (less complicated). XD

Just the fact that it's more than 3 steps is nice! = w = Normally I find eye tutorials too simple, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? I'm also not very use to the different blending modes, so it's nice to find a tutorial that uses them. Ahaha, it's not complicated! xD Though, I'm not too sure what you mean by changing the fill percentage? Is that an option in the higher up versions of PS? (I have 7.0 = w =;; )

Ah, the fill percentage is right below the opacity percentage settings on your layers palette. You can see what I mean in the layer screenshots in my other tutorial: [link] (which explains more blending modes too).

Woah, I've been using Photoshop for years and I've never payed any attention to that. o - o Yeah! All your tutorials are great! Hopefully with them I'll be able to start using vectors more. = w =

lol you must end up with more layers than me! I almost never merge layers, and I save the original file (.xcf for gimp) AND the picture file ^D^
My best picture to date had about 10 layers... and it was pretty bad by my new standards DX
Anyway, thanks for the tut, I'll probably use this, it's pretty helpful!

Haha, actually if I do merge things, they're copies of the original layers, and then I hide the original layers in case I want to go back to them. XD
So yea I do end up with a lot...such that my files can become 200mb!!
Thanks for the comment!

WOW. o_o
I just got one question, what resolution was the image in when you were working on the eyes? I'm curious how big a picture would hafta be to get that much going on in the eye and not have it distort.

Oh yeah, I forgot, it was made at 100dpi. XP

You're looking at it full size.
My total wall was 2560x1600px, and the eye pic used here is just a cropped section of it. So yup, this is 100% zoom on the eye, and the original size I used to paint it.

Genius, eh? XD
I pretty much added whatever I thought would look good. XP Took a lot of experimenting/testing when painting cause, well, I'm also a biologist lol.

...omg, so many layers...I think I got lost somewhere in the middle, lol.
Thanks for sharing and making it, though. I'll try it out some time!

Lol, no prob. Though don't feel you have to follow each step perfectly, what I wrote are just the specific values and stuff in my layers. Feel free to experiment any way you like.

Thanks. I don't think it was too difficult as I painted it...making the tutorial and explaining what I did was harder imo, lol. XD
