ok I want to point this out, no its not papyrus the murderer, there are way more murderers here.

All started when monsters were forced underground.
Tension was pretty high in the cavern
One day a human fell, but their hopes of escaping were cut short, they were brutally murdered by the king, who wished to satisfy his kingdom
He gave the soul to Asriel, in hopes that he will go to the surface and kill as many monsters above, wiping them and freeing monsters from the underground
Asriel did kill a few humans, not willingly, but he did, he became strong but he couldn't fight off the many humans
When Asriel came back, tension rose even higher. Some stronger monsters deemed Asriel a weakling, no more than worthless pile of dust. Toriel wished to make peace with future humans that fell down but Asgore, after the loss of his son, was so angry he decided not only future humans would be killed until they possessed seven human souls, to assure the success of their plan, but weak monsters, would also be executed to make stronger monsters even stronger.
A couple of weeks had passes monsters were taken to New-Home or killed on the spot
It was a terrible time for the underground, many rebellions were forming but they were wiped as soon as they were discovered.
Toriel though, started a rebellion of her own in the Ruins, where monsters were saved, and others could plot against Asgore.

Sans was in associations with Alphys, who wished to help the rebellion at first, but stopped after almost being caught by Undyne, since Undyne followed the king's orders and wanted all humans dead, Alphys decided to follow Undyne. But Alphys would have to show her worth to the king, or he'd turn her into exp for his army. Being a scientist wasn't enough as science is useless when compared to true power. It's not for nothing Gaster the old scientist killed himself. Alphys told everything she knew about Toriel's rebellion, and even if Asgore got so angry he almost killed Alphys, she was found to be way more useful than he'd anticipate.

Sans unfortunately died in an ambush, where he sacrificed himself to give time for their group to flee
