Description

The Redwoods are a very wise and secretive race of long lived plant/tree based Mutores who believe in peaceful coexistence with nature.

Each Redwood is identical when in their humanoid form except for differences in bark color and wood grain. Each stands approximately twelve feet tall but can extend their bodies double that reaching twenty four feet. The Redwoods can stretch their limbs and feet/roots in any direction in the same manner.

Masters at camouflage and stealth the Redwoods can shape shift into various types of trees and stumps and blend into any setting. There seems to be no limit to how long they can hold these forms.

Unlike normal trees the Redwoods bodies are very dense molecularly and are much more durable and have more mass making them extremely strong, durable and long lived measuring their life spans in centuries rather than years. The oldest member of the Redwoods is granted leadership and can only be succeeded upon their death by the next oldest of their tribe.

The Redwoods live and gain nourishment from the sun and ground water through the process of photosynthesis. Like any plant based organism they are vulnerable to fire, drought and extremes in temperature or weather.

Since the time of the dinosaurs the Inhumanoids have waged a war below the surface of the earth with the Mutores, a diverse race of beings that have worked together to protect the Earth and commune with nature. Eventually the Mutores were triumphant in their long war and managed to defeat and trap the Inhumanoids in the mantle of the Earth.

During the great Inhumanoids war the Redwoods played a key role in its end when they trapped the Inhumanoid D’Compose in a giant pit of liquid amber which hardened and encased the thirty foot tall monster keeping him immobile and weakened from the light it allowed in.

When the war was won the Redwoods migrated to the surface of the Earth above the amber pit and blended in with the forests of what would one day become Los Padres National Forest in Big Sur California to stand guard eternally over D’Compose's prison and vowed to protect the land and to never to reveal themselves or their role to mankind.

In modern times when scientists led by Doctor Herman “Herc” Armstrong unearthed the amber monolith that contained D’Compose they mistakenly believed it to be a dinosaur fossil and began excavating the relic. The Redwoods attempted to dissuade the humans by subtly sabotaging their machinery and causing accidents on the job site while remaining in disguise as trees and tree stumps but they failed to stop the team from taking the amber monolith.

Once on display at night at a museum D’Compose escaped his amber prison with the aid of Tendril and both made their way below towards the Earth's core and broke their leader Metlar free and began a reign of terror on humanity.

Doctor Jonathan Slattery aka Liquidator of Earth Corps Went to Big Sur to investigate the area to find clues about D'Compose's origins and when his instruments picked up strange energy readings the Redwoods, led by Redlen, made their presence known. When the Redwoods confronted Liquidator their leader Redlen saw his aura was good and sensed his thoughts were pure and stopped the Redwoods from attacking him. Redlen then told Liquidator the history of the Inhumanoids war with the Mutores and why it was so important they be stopped and imprisoned once more.

Since then the Redwoods have allied themselves with Earth Corp along with the sentient rock race the Granites and the composite being Magnokor to fight against the Inhumanoids and end their threat once and for all.

Redlen: The oldest and wisest of the Redwoods, Redlen is their current leader and is thousands of years old. A soft-spoken and peaceful being Redlen is also a master strategist and cunning military leader when the need arises. It was Redlen who was responsible for the plan that originally captured D’Compose which helped tilt the Inhumanoids War in the Mutores’ favor.

Redlen has been shown to possess the ability to read other living beings auras as well as sense if their thoughts are good or evil. Whether this is a mystical quality only he possesses or if it is something the Redwoods as a whole can do remains unrevealed.

Redsun: Redsun is the leader of the Redwoods Scouts, an elite band of warriors among the Redwoods who specialize in espionage deep within Inhumanoids held territories beneath the surface of the earth and dispatch vital information to their allies among the human and Mutore allies.

Redsun is the swiftest of this group able to travel at speeds normal Redwoods are unable to achieve making him their most valuable member as well as leader. Youthful compared to most Redwoods, Redsun can often be cocky and impetuous and he dreams of marching into battle against the Inhumanoids and putting an end to them himself.
