Model is Rael C.This was lit with a large octodome to camera left, and a gridded spotlight on the backdrop from camera right. I was having fun with the idea of shooting an image that was color but looked black-and-white. But as it happened, I liked the color a lot. OK, that's not strictly true - I spent about 10 minutes just staring at Rael.

I'm not going to stop with the b&w. 
In my last shoot I got Rael up on my pedestal (again) and have some fantastic shots. Those, of course, will be b&w. This image, though, actually doesn't look as interesting in b&w. And it's all about making it interesting! everything else is secondary.

I like your idea of trying to make a colored picture look naturally black and white. I love the lights and shadows BUT, personally, I don't like how the model looks too stiff. She doesn't look natural nor comfortable.. But that's just my opinion.

Well, you're right that it's definitely not a natural pose!! We kind of evolved her into it. I had her doing a bunch of much more normal gestures but at one point she kind of hopped and I saw this buried in the movement and had her do it over again until I managed to catch it.

Explains the stiffness. I guess it would have been better if she was slightly off the ground but that'll make the picture a little unclear wouldn't it?
Well now I understand, I find it more intriguing. Would you mind putting one of the extra shots in scraps? I'd really like to see them.

They really aren't worth seeing. In most of them it's minor adjustments like the position of her right hand so it wasn't blocked by her body. Stuff like that.
