Transparency 30% until then. Transparency is a perfectly suitable final solution if you are really obsessive about making the color boundaries smooth and perfect. Mine are... messy. So I have to cover them up with my opaque line trick.

That trick you do to soften the lines is super rad. I used to go in and re-color my lines manually and then mess effects before, But it got to be so much work that i just started leaving them black.

Meh, when reviewing webcomics, good linework more than compensates for tricks like this. I only have to use it because my lines are so clumsy and heavy. Black lines have never hurt a page that wasn't hurting already.

Have I mentioned you're brilliant? There are a lot of tech here that I wouldn't have thought of and will probably have to give a shot. I too often find myself turned off by heavy black lines in my work but wouldn't have thought to remedy it in this ay! Very cool and much more organic.

There was a tutorial posted here somewhere a year or so ago by a professional comics artist talking about the basic idea of fixing the black lines problem. He used all these fancy masks and stuff to make it work, but me - I have never got the hang of masks. So this was my low-tech substitute.

I've always had my issues with masking as well so this is a great substitute and one I will have to experiment with. Also, I'm so happy I'm not the only one who takes possibly longer then they should working on individual panels and such-like
