This is a commission for my cousin of a scene from 'Merlin" of merlin and the great dragon.
This turned out a lot better than i expected, its probably because i used a lot of references. Fans of the show 'Merlin' might recognise this scene. I've never watched the show myself.
I've never actually seriously attempted to draw a european style dragon, I favour the chinese dragon style (cause its so floofeh). So i'm glad this turned out alright ^__^ The wings took forever to get to look right, after some research though i got it. They're not perfect, but close enough.
The references of the dragon were a bit difficult to use, as almost always the back of the dragon either isnt shown or in the shadows, so i had to improvise a bit.
But yeah, i'm really really proud of this!

This piece has greatly expressed how your talents grow at an alarming rate and how you continue to challenge yourself with new and interesting ideas. The take on the Dragon in traditional mediums is interesting and your illustrative approach works well, though some minor areas could be altered the overall presentation of such a creature is magnificent.
The use of pencil to colour the work is good, but it might have needed something to allow various areas to not merge or blend together so easily. The idea of using a soft pencil to re-outline the drawing might have been something to consider, never the less though, it is still strong in it's appearance.

What do you mean by soft pencil? like lead pencil or a coloured pencil in a soft tone? I tried to seperate the colours by using tone, but it didnt seem to work. 83 i might try your idea.

By pencil I do mean a lead one to hold separate the tones just a fraction.
