An experiment I'm doing using comic page design. This started off as a contest entry for a new character profile then it sprouted wings and took off. Hopefully it won't end up getting bogged down in the Slough of Artistic Block and Indecision.This story is a prequel to the three other stories I have in my gallery involving this same character. Doorway to Darkness, The Gorgon Smile and Cold Curse Files (still in development.
Symbolism of pictures: Upper left panel (Main Gerdin character of story, Kes Allyntahl, freedom of the individual). Upper right panel (Peregrine falcon, universal freedom). Lower left panel (National flag of her island country, a dictatorial regime). Lower right panel (surveillance cameras, "Big Brother is Watching You").
Straight down the middle: The Lamia Key (an ancient artifact brimming full of strange spells, kind of like The Monkey's Paw or The Bottle Imp.. Each wish comes with a high prize and if you still have it in your possession when you die you go straight to Hell.
