Description While I'm sewing a new bodysuit I was asked several times, how I do my applications, especially with stretchy fabrics.
So I decided to make a new tutorial this time about applications.

You can also use this technique for non-stretchy fabrics!!!

Bondaweb / Wonder Under is also known as Vliesofix.

I hope this tutorial will help you as well!
If you have any questions, just ask ^^

This comes at a perfect timing for me, as I'm about to make an appliqué in cotton knit fabric. I don't have bondaweb (I don't think I can get it locally), but I'm planning on temporarily glue the fabrics onto each other before making the appliqué.
Anyway, any tips are always welcome! Thank you.

I'm happy I could help you!
I'm interrested if the fabric stays stretchy when it's glued together.
Please write me, if it says stretchy or not.

I ended up using the poor people's fabric stabilizer, painter's tape (the paper kind) and no glue because I was afraid it would stain, I have two or three rolls about. First I hand basted the design, glued the tape on the back and embroidered on top of the basting. It worked really well, and if I had a more modern and knit fabric friendly sewing machine it would have been perfect. My machine is about 50 years old and basically, although it looks fine on the outside, you don't want to see the back... it's an ugly mess XD
I'll eventually post pictures here some time in the future.

Sometimes the older machines are the best ^^
I have an industrial sewing machine that is about 30-40 years old and it works just perfect.
Maybe your machine only needs some cleaning and oil.

it just came from being repaired, it really doesn't like knits, especially thin knits, very much.
industrial machines are fabulous, when I first used one I was mesmerized ^__^

Oh ok ^-^
Thats sad that it don't like knitted fabrics. But as Long as it sewes everything else it's ok.
