you requested a critique, here you go.
Im going to start by saying that on tecnique you're fine.I do traditional art and this is a digital picture and therefore it is hard for me to judge how hard it actually is to produce, but I know that if i were to attemp this char, results would be similar, then again I consider myself bad at drawing.
moving onto the design itself: the first thing I noticed is the general scrubbyness this character has, not that I have anything versus chars like that but a student with such beard(not just a stubble) feels odd, add to that the grey long hair and the scar and you have a character who is supposed to be learning yet shows signs of having vast experience.
next up, sorry but I have to, Ive seen that arm and gun-sword elsewere... seriously tho the arm feels unecesary, all it does is add another sign of experience to char who is supposed to have little of it, and the gunblade... just feels very unimaginative, even if you did alter the design a bit.
the artist presents us with two vastly different outfits for the character , but first I will take a moment to complement the footwear, it's a versitile pair of shoes (although he should be wearing formal shoes with the uniform, I'l let that slip). the first outfit transmits an elegant character, it is a long sleeved coat with shirt, tie and pants, all in black and blue while the second is a very informal shirtless , sleveless outfit with a scarf. this is a bit of a dilemma since they're both good in their own right but they are so diferent in the things they transmit that there is no way it's the same person wearing both.
the emblem looks fairly complicated but it makes for a nice detail on the back.
overall this character has some questionable desitions applied, like that weapon, along with some really interesting ones, such as the long hair on a male character, I think he'd do a better teacher than he does a student.

i thank you for the critique. as for the character it does not belong to me. i just drew it for a client. the arm was from FMA. I altered it a bit as i tried to make it different enough,. but i failed there. the shoes im not yet good at drawing just yet. i need more practice. Gun sword is clouds i believe? but i turned it into a gun that has a double blade that will flatten to create a crossbow. im not good at weapons in the least. emblem wise. there are more complicated ones such as Adams

I liked the emblem it was my favorite thing becouse it complemented the outfit so well , it was unfair of me not to put more enphasis on that,and the owner of the gunblade I belive is called squall (never played any FF games tho).
you shoud definetly have showed the weapon transformation that woud have helped redeem the weapon a bit. Im glad you found the comentary helpful, and I hope it helps you to grow as an artist.
