There are many ways to catch a lightning.. It seems that it was pretty dark when you shot this. with long exposure time.. Doesn't need a lot of skills. just set the camera in the right position and take a lot of shots. some of the pics will eventually have lighnings, too. To photograph lightnings during daytime is different thing, it requires skill. You need to be incredebly fast.. of course there are detectors to adapt to the cam so that it will automatically take pics when strong flashes are detected.
So, I'd say that this pic is a combination of skill nad luck

alright the truth it was just luck, there origionally was a huge flash to the left , then i've taken the photo and then the lightning continued to the right , i wish i had at that time a camera with longer exposure and i could've caught it all maybe, thanks for the comment
