The idea that Australians are descended from convicts is actually a ridiculous misconception purely for the reason that the convict population was not actually large enough. Over time Australia's agricultural and mineral resources attracted waves of immigrants specifically seeking wealth through the gold rush in Victoria and New South Wales.
Over time Immigrants had come to Australia out of numerous motivations; predominantly seeking to take advantage of Australia's quickly growing and secure economy, as well as it's consistent abundance of employment and education opportunities.
I myself was not born in Australia, I was actually born in Cork, Ireland. The country that my father is from, my mother however was born and raised in Australia; however her parents are immigrants from Hungary. Regardless I like Australia and enjoy the quality of life and opportunities available here, so I proudly defend it's honour. So before you talk shit about a country, do a teeny bit of research; because to call someone a camel fucker or a rice picker is one thing, because these are minor cultural features that you're making fun of or twisting into something negative⦠But if you're going to make gigantic assumptions about their culture based on such an ill informed culture.
