What about Luna's second dress/outfit in her Mau form?

That?  It's just the same outfit ( gallery.missdream.org/albums/s… & missdream.org/sailor-moon-scan… ); but with the organdy skirt much shorter, minus the necklace and her neck ribbon, and the anklet on her ankle, and plus a pair of shoes ( gallery.missdream.org/albums/s… & missdream.org/sailor-moon-scan… ).

Helpful?

It's not exactly the same outfit for the differences you mentioned though, just similar. In fact I don't think a lot of people realize she has two different outfits.

I think it's like with Serenity's dress whenever she's Princess Serenity or Neo Queen Serenity ( moon-shadow-1985.deviantart.co… ), that being able by magic to shorten the skirt, remove snag-esq jewellery, and to provide shoes makes things more convienient to fighting an opponent like Tin-Nyanko; wouldn't you agree...?

The thing about NQS's dress is that it is different, especially in terms of the cut. It's especially obvious in the manga that it's different even if it has the same styling as her Princess gown. It's the difference between an empire dress vs a mermaid dress which is a pretty big difference.

I'm more inclined to think that it's the same dress, but a magic dress, tied to it's owner as a reflection of them and their power/strength, evolving as they do.  She transforms into it, she doesn't pick it out of a closet.

If you want to draw your own interpretation of Luna's wardrobe, however, I'd say 'go for it'.

P.S.:  empire dress vs mermaid dress?

Empire and mermaid are two different cuts/styles of dress.

And I don't think it matters whether or not the dress is physically or magically the same piece of clothing, the point is that they look different. Especially considering the sailor fuku are also all technically the same clothes but the actual outfits look different with each upgrade because of different details, accessories, cuts, etc.

The different looks, like I said, are all magic clothes changes, tied to it's owner as a reflection of them and their power/strength, evolving as they do.

If you want to try your own interpretation of Luna's wardrobe, again I say 'go for it'.  You could even try 'Princess Sailor Luna'...

(cheers (empire dress vs mermaid dress)).
