Description Well this is one result of my aperture lesson with `superkev aka yoda . There are others from the group I really liked but I don't want to really bombard you with a flurry of marble shots

I have a personal attachment to this one, often being the oddball myself and not quite fitting in with the norm.

Anyhow, aperture is fun, play with it Always have to play!

Thank you to for his patience and his awesomeness and for processing the shot for me.

This is so cool! I love the colorful blur with the marbles. That's super creative! it adds a lot to the composition! I like the colors as well. The subjects in themselves are creative and unique. i love the clarity and focus on the marbles as well.

Wonderful work!

I always have loved marbles, I had boxes full of them as a kid, and I still kept some of my better ones even now for the good memories two can be similar, but never exactly the same, marbles are like snowflakes in that respect

Yeah, I always was the oddball of my family, I was one of three boys in among my siblings. Both my brothers like dthe same things (generic "boy" stuff like toy cars, action figures and getting dirty) While I was into the more "unusual" things, marbles actually being one of them...sure, all kids have marbles, but how many had two crates filled with them? They even looked the same, for some reason, they had brown hair and I had red...I got picked on a lot for that lucky it changed over time lol.

Congratulations on the nomination

And you nailed one of the more finer points in photography with this depth of field experiment.

I like how you put the focus (and all of the focus) on only the second ball. That's quite impressive. Great colors and framing/marble set up.

I like this. The depth of Field is great!

BTW, It's depth of field; aperture effects overall DOF (Bigger Aperture "F 1.2" gives you shallower DOF)

neat picture. i like how the second marble is the one that's in sharp focus rather than the first as well. as for the yellow at the end of the line, it is bright and draws attention, but i like it there. it forces the eye to travel back and forth along the marble line. i also like how this isn't completely linear, that some marbles are out of line. seems like you had a good teacher in ^superkev .

well used the DOF in this one, which lens did you use on your 10D ?
I also like the bright underground of this one - great setup ....
I also tryed a bit with "easter egg marbles" and made a eastercard - there are heaps of ways you can take shots of this little objects ....

A very stunning result to your lesson, no doubt. You clearly have nailed the DOF here as the focus is so intense on that second marble. I dig the way the marbles are set up, too. The shape it creates causes my mind to start thinking of what it might be as if I am in some physiological experiment which I find fascinating.

You are certainly oddly wonderful if that's what you mean! And definitely one of a kind! Don't mind me I'm being sappy today...

Anyway, I'm here to talk about the picture, right? At first I thought the yellow was a bit distracting (as Vixelyn pointed out a couple of comments ago) but the more I looked at the photo the more I thought it was fitting in a way. I'm not exactly sure why, but to me it reminded me of the sun, always in the background, doing it's own thing no matter what's going on below it. In any case, even if it was just experimenting I like it!
