Description Mythical Creatures Challenge #19: Hydra

I'm still trying to catch up on sketches of the challenges, so I'll get back to this soon.
Edit: Colored!  Snake mouths are interesting in how different they are.  I drew the snake mouths differently this time for ease.  I has to look up a lot of snake vore stuff on dArt to find a easier way to draw it.  Hydras has a lot of heads, but the amount varies a lot since every time you cut off a head, 2 more grow in it's place.  The main head is immortal, so it's the hardest head to kill.  On top of all that, this creature is highly poisonous and can emit said poison by breath.  This creature was actually a child of 2 god, and was raised by Hera to kill Hercules during his set of labours.

I thought a swamp are would be a good setting for this creature, and make the trees wilt as the hydra pass, showing how poisonous this snake is.

An outstanding interpretation of the Hydra! The snake heads look perfect as all of your snake-related artworks and the different poses add a lot to it and make it interesting as they draw your attention to look on every single one of them! The swamp environment concept supports it nicely! Also I love how huge it looks next to the different trees and roots! It makes it look as deadly as it is described in the mythology!

Thank you.  I looked up a lot of pictures of snakes and got a good hang of doing each head.

I wanna try snakes for the hydra due to this being my first time drawing a hydra.  Maybe next time, I'll do a dragon-hydra, that might look cooler!
I'll try improve the water effect next time in the future.

I really love the design of this Hydra! I actually pictured a Hydra being a huge dragon with a couple heads like in the Hercules movie from Disney xD

Hydras are generally multi-headed snakes, but some drawn as dragons looks pretty cool.

Yup, and it's something only Hercules can kill(with help from his nephew).
