c-could you.... show us... your tools? heavy breathing aaaand m-m-maybe how you come with an idea, do you thumbnail?
what kind of brush and ink do you use? including for the washes.

the characters/style remind me of beano comics!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moosekleenex In reply to fibralo [2010-10-24 12:47:57 +0000 UTC]

sorry for late reply! I usually use windsor and newton brand brushes (they're used for watercolors I think) and recently started using the fancy sable brushes.

and yes I usually make a thumbnail :3

this is cool, it's neat to see people's process sometimes rather than just finished art.

what size paper are you using here?

moosekleenex In reply to Lamborholly [2010-10-16 10:32:38 +0000 UTC]

Inkmo [2010-10-16 01:55:31 +0000 UTC]

love getting to see people's processes.

when you do the black fill are you using white ink to get the outline around the characters or just being extra careful? I see some spots that look like there are black brush strokes breaking up some of the dry brush, but I see others where the dry brush and hatching intersects the white line pretty cleanly, so I could sort of see it being a case of either..

Inkmo In reply to Inkmo [2010-10-16 01:56:32 +0000 UTC]

d'oh, wait, I totally see a bottle of white ink in the first photo! XD I am dumb

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moosekleenex In reply to Inkmo [2010-10-16 10:30:47 +0000 UTC]

I never use white ink for those lines, actually. I am just careful, like you said. I use white ink for little mistakes.

Oh holla, I think we have the same lamp! Does it look like the little Pixar logo lamp? 'Cause then we'd be lamp buddies and that would be AWESOME.

Your process is really spiffy, and it's always a treat to see how artists go from concept to finished product. This is a fantastic piece, thanks for sharing it with us!
