Awww such a Touching scene...Vincent comes to offer a peace offering to Victoria...knows her story and wishes to ease her suffering by being there for her as much as he could possibly can.
Victoria looking at him sadly, "you can't save me.....I am forever drowned in my eternal suffering...forever to relive my events in memory and after death....there is nothing you can do...and I don't wish for you to be there when its hopeless to even be with me."
Vincent looking at her sternly, "I know the feeling....I am forever to live the same way...but that doesn't mean we have to suffer alone...you a ghost..and me a vampire...but that doesn't mean I will give up either...we both live for all eternity....which makes all the more sense...be there...for each other."
Victoria looks at him and sighs..."if that is what you wish."

long story short,
Victor has strong feelings for Victoria, even though it is impossible to be with her...he still wants to be there for her and by her side.
Victoria knows Victor has a little more freedom that she does, and doesn't for him to stand by her side so he could limit himself to what he can do.

The tale that these two share are similar, hence the power granted to them in having an afterlife of memory. Whether that power is positive or negative, however, is up to the viewer.
Nevertheless, to have someone willing to keep company in a time of distress and sadness...that's the mark of a true companion. He does well by sticking with her, even if she's hesitant for him to do so. They both have an eternity, so there's plenty of time to have a change of heart...maybe she'll accept him after a while.
The lighting of the moon gives splendid shade of shadows, my dear. You did a swell job on this, and I thank you for working so hard to bring us such a powerful story with an intriguing look.
