Description Have some cool and contrasting colors for this summer month! The optional color is back to pure white this time around, and hopefully the theme is less obscure than June's theme. Go wild! Keyholes, locks, car keys, 'The Key to Your Heart,' anything to do with keys is good for the theme this time around.

Rules:
- You must submit your piece by midnight GMT on August 7th, 2013 (you get a full 30 days to do it)
- You have to use the five official colors.
- You may use white
- You may make multiple pieces and submit them to our gallery, but choose only one to enter the voting (please let us know which one you want us to use! If you do not specify, we will only enter your first submission into the voting.)
- Please submit to the featured section of the #Colour-Schemes gallery so everyone can see and so it's officially entered in the challenge! We will move the challenges to the appropriate folder ourselves. You can of course reply here with a link, too, because then we have happy confirmation.

Notice: Please say in your artist's comments that your piece is for the July Challenge. We've been having a problem with random submission spam to the gallery, and after a long day we often just check the artist's comments without really "seeing" the piece. We don't want to accidentally reject anyone's submission.

So the image should be associated with keys?

Yes, though you may stretch the theme as much as you want. If you look at previous months' challenges, you can see that interpretation generally gets a little wild. The current entries have had literal keys in them, or are pictures of characters who have connections to keys, or show things that are kept under lock and key. The theme is just supposed to be a starting point.

Sorry if this is irrelevant but when I saw the theme, all I could think of was the Cool-T song "The Magic Key".

Do the colors have to be exactly like they are here?

Yes. If you're trying to color match traditional media (such as this piece by *twapa done for last year's June color scheme ), we're happy to be lenient about the "use these exact colors" rule. However, if you're using digital media, while you may blend and use layer modes, we do expect that you use the exact colors on your brush.

Examples of color blending:

Example of layer mode over use:
- [link] I used one of the purples from this April's challenge as an overlay color on a separate layer over the entire piece to make the lighter colors more shadowy and fitting for my concept.
