Description
Photo taken in July, 2013 @ Allwetter Zoo Münster, GermanyA different angle of the Rufous Elephant Shrew baby. The special thing about this Elephant Shrew, are the eyes. They have white lining around, and the dot behind the eye. It makes them look like those images you're used to from Egyptian eyes, though the other way around.
Species: Rufous Elephant Shrew or Sengi (Rosse olifantspitsmuis)
Latin name: Elephantulus Rufescens
Originates from Eastern Africa.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…Couple of Rufous Elephant Shrews will defend their territory by ruffling up their hind legs and chasing of intruders.
…An Elephant Shrew is called a “Rüsselspringer” in German.

Yeah, it's pretty oppressive. It's pretty hard to ignore, even when you're oohing and awwing
