Angela felt something hard and heavy atop her head. Was it her head? The changes were coming too quickly for her to process them. Her already scant understanding of magic was feeling more and more like garbled nonsense. All she knew for sure was that the bony form surrounding her head felt like it was pushing her minuscule frame even closer to the floor. Her clothes were following a different set of rules. Her purple dress crept upwards, revealing her midriff. Her tights became thicker, ballooning out into a pair of striped shorts. Her gloves grew longer while her boots left her stubby toes uncovered. Angela felt a stemlike horn growing from her head, indicating that the bony covering was not simply headgear.

Angela felt her ears poking out from under her skull-like head, growing to two sandy green points. She shook her head, swinging her thick ponytail to and fro. What was she doing in this room full of worthless magic books, she wondered. She needed to get back to…
