Description
Farflier
Iām a traveller from a faraway land
On membranes I glide over the endless desert sand
The sun is setting on my world
Its time to venture out from my home
The air is dry and cold
From my roost ā a hole carved into a massive dome
This dome - a remnant of a forest long bygone
I glide over the world in search of dwindling food
Food vanishing like the spire forests long ago, one by one.
I have no name, and yet I still exist
For how long I will still do
I have no clue
Times are hard, yet I still resist
Life will endure as long as it still can
Even if the old world is long gone
We will die out slowly, like the forests, one by one
My guess is that the farflier is a descendant of the lolligolugo, a scansorial scrounger, which lived in the forests. Maybe it evolved to glide in an energy efficient way and widened its diet to survive.
But it appears much more likely that the lolligolugo went extinct and that the kangglider, a Skungaroo, evolved to become the farflier.
