Making comics is fun but it takes a lot of time. Here we have everbody's favourite cowgirl with the world's best fashionista.Such an unlikely friendship, really
...but I guess that's the magic behind it all.

It increases the surface area, (so you don't sink into mud as much) but the sides aren't wider because you might be more likely to trip over your own hooves. They're not lengthened at the back because that would make walking a little awkward, since the extended back part would be touching down before you're expecting your hoof to touch down.
Obviously, they have to be hollow, so that they bend and let you walk normally, otherwise missing out the back section would be pointless.
