Succubi, their Nuo'Boa allies and most other star faring sapients in the local cluster make extensive use of force field systems, particularly for combat related functions.

Being relatively new to the local interstellar scene, Succubi technology is a generation or so behind, despite technological assistance from the Nuo'Boa Allied Systems. However, for purposes of personal defence their shielding technology has matched and, in some ways, surpassed their reluctant sponsors; despite being bulkier, Succubus manufactured personal shields have an 8.2% effective increase in field strength with a mean generation time only 0.0002 seconds slower than equivalent Nuo'Boa systems.
Under most circumstances it is preferred that individual defence be handled by Fast Remote Field Interdiction (FRFI) systems; these specialist shield generators are capable of generating pin point force barriers of various shapes and sizes at considerable range; the upper limit is typically around 80 km, though this range is highly variable depending on terrain, atmospheric conditions and comparative elevation. At the extremes of effective range attenuation greatly inhibits field strength, and as such tactical doctrine places these systems 20-40km away from the combat area. FRFI systems are almost always vehicle mounted, allowing them to easily reposition to support forward units.

A single FRFI generator can handle defence for 2-3 platoons for as long as they are supplied with power. However under certain circumstances, most commonly when the terrain is too difficult to situate a FRFI within range or when jamming is too severe for the system to communicate with individual mounted sensor systems, personnel are issued Personal Barrier Systems. While significantly weaker than an FRFI generator, PBS equipment features integrated sensor systems--typically a combination of Thermal, LIDAR and Gravimetric sensors--which affords adequate protection for it's wearer. The most major weaknesses of these portable systems is their reliance on battery power; at full charge it is expected that a modern PBS system will be able to protect it's wearer for approximately 12 minutes of heavy combat.
