I must assume you are referring to the stylistic change,...but, really, I do that from time to time. As often as I can manage, actually. Look at some of my older work, sometime, and see the variety of styles I have explored, got somewhat of a handle on, and set aside for future reference. No change is permanent, as the only permanent feature is change. Sometimes, as in this case, an idea grows that I see a certain way, and that is the way I must portray it. I will doubtless do more work with the layered, finely graded expanses of color I have been working with lately, but there will always be other worlds to explore. I still use the old surrealist method,...I draw [heedlessly], until something about the color , shape, or shading engages my interest. At that point I stop, start listening to music, and generally pour a generous measure of vodka. Thus fortified, I stare at the drawing until I discern where the work is going. As a method it is unhealthy, politically incorrect, and out-and-out balmy, but I like the results.
