Description
this was a surface treatment that i experimented with for a while...sorry the image is bad, it was taken at a show.I really liked the look, but people seem to go for "colorful". Perhaps some day i'll be in enough demand that i can go back to this type of surface. We'll see...

yeah...i just couldn't sell this one. Ended up gifting it to a friend with the knowledge that I'd still get to see it every once in a while.

That is quite cool. I actually think it looks good without being colorful.
Great job!

very cool, i love the treatment it looks likea 3d dimensioal rendering in pastels, is it done with iron oxide?
actually the whole thing kicks serious ass, is this slab built?

there is iron oxide in there among a few other oxides. I mix them up to get a good tone.
Everything i make is coil built. I hardlyl ever use slab (mostly because i haven't set up my slab roller yet).
thanks for commenting!

Is that just red iron oxide fired on? We do a lot of our pieces that way. Very punny and well-executed....

Oh wow...
that's so beautiful. On so many levels. Do I sense a political commentary as well?
FAVE!

this is terribly creepy --in a good way. she doesn't feel terribly motherly to me, unless she's a haggard mother who just wants to put the groceries away and chuck those little critters she's lugging into bed. i think it's in her expression... she's one ornery rabbit!

Wow.. I adore all of your pieces (and, I will admit, I love the way you use color) but this is probably my favorite. I have to agree, I think that color would ruin this piece -- the "earthy" look gives it a very mother-goddess sense. This may not be what you intended, but it's what I draw from the piece. The solidity of her, especially her legs (I ADORE her legs) really helps to bring across this image, as well as the rabbit/fertility connection. This piece is absolutely breathtaking, it's a shame there aren't more shots of it. May I ask if it sold?

I can see why folks like the colors because you are so phenomenal with them but it's a shame they would overlook amazing pieces like these for that reason. I'll keep pulling for you to get to the place where you get to do surface at your whim and everyone will salivate for more!
