Description
At last, the dreaded Brain! He went from a peaceful know-it-all Smurf to the tyrannical overlord of a post-Apocalyptic wasteland. What a jerk. He's the central villain of my 80s property spoof story, now officially named "The Revival". More to come!
Besides Brainy and the re-used Cabbage Patch Kids in the background, there are two more 80s toy references in this picture--can you figure them out?

...Well OI can see that the Brain here stole Krangs bio-suit and his source of power is a rubix cube.

Totally! The cube is an ancient artifact that is said to be able to awaken an ancient weapon. The plot thickens!

Exactly! To me, he was the "Starscream" of the Smurfs. He'd betray Papa Smurf and take over in a second if he thought he could get away with it.

Using Brainy Smurf as a main antagonist is downright brilliant. LOL

Ha, ha--thanks! Somehow it didn't seem like a far cry for him. He always seemed one outburst away from killing Papa Smurf and taking over the Smurfs.

Brilliant character design, and nice rendering; the CRANG is wonderful in it's oddness!

Totally knew it was Krang's suit, and I knew the rubiks cube was a rubiks cube but I wasn't sure if it was made in the 80s

Ah, yeah, it was! They even made a terrible cartoon show for the Rubik's Cube, where he magically grows a face and feet and runs around solving mysteries with a Mexican-American family. It sounds like a joke, but it was an actual show! So cheesy.

dude!! probably one of the best krang concepts i've seen (and believe me im a ninja turtles freak - i've seen a few!) - especially the suit itself, the tiny eyes are creepy as hell!!

MurderousAutomaton In reply to cthullhu [2011-03-21 17:15:23 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, man! I thought it would be fun to work the double-reference in there. Since Brainy's "The Brain", he would create the Krang suit and be "the brain" that goes into it, instead of Krang. I try to get the references in there without being literal representations of the original characters.

So Brainy killed Kraang and stole his suit! How cool!
π: 0 β©: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to grazatt [2010-10-06 02:17:48 +0000 UTC]
Ha, ha! Well, sort of--it's more a reference to Krang, rather than actually being his suit. I knew Brainy would have a genetically engineered suit, so I modeled it after Krang's!
But your version is pretty interesting, too...

MurderousAutomaton In reply to TheAlmightyPillock [2010-10-01 17:36:50 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! ^_^ Actually, he's supposed to look like Krang--the idea is that Brainy made a bio-mechanical suit for himself to appear more intimidating, and it seemed like a good fit to cross the properties. Two 80s references for the price of one!

Ha, ha! Indeed. Solving the Rubik's Cube is the key to unlocking the power of "The Behemoth", the final act of the story! It'll be Brainy's obsession throughout the whole thing.
