Another illustration for my fantasy novel. Well this is more like a promotional piece, as this actual scene really isn't in the book, even when the fire creature and the boy are.This is very spoiler heavy piece, so I'm not sure how much I can safely tell about the story behind it. The boy is the other main character in the book, Ikaros, and this is rather different view on him when compared to he's last painting mustesielu.deviantart.com/art/… One of the main themes of the story is change and it pretty much applies also here. Like his mother, has Ikaros also the talent of "charming" flames to take unnatural shapes. Hence the title
I got the idea for his armor from this costume from the Bram Stoker's Dracula www.imdb.com/media/rm656772608… My next few pieces will continue these promotional artworks, as I decided to paint two alternative covers (or posters if not needed) for the book. I hope that after that I will have time to do (and finish) some more illustrations, but my deadline to send the book to the publishers is getting closer and closer, so we'll see what happens and what won't.
Well anyway, any comments, critiques and suggestions are always more than welcome!

Hmmm, I've been pondering this comment of yours a lot. I've played all the main Kingdom Heart games and of course that costume is familiar to me. But when I painted this piece, I was only thinking about Dracula's battle armor. Maybe I and the creators of KM concept art got ideas from the same source, or maybe I drew inspiration from KM without even knowing it. Who knows... What matters to me is that all these 3 pieces are different enough. Or do you disagree?

I think it was a funny coincidence- Literally funny-that it looks like Riku.
Frankly it's a nice piece, but that being said I'd be damned being the KH fan I am to not make a joke about that.

Maybe you should give it a try and see what happens. Your saturated bright colours are a characteristic of your works, and I think that gives them a sense of uniqueness, but you can always try new things.
