The turtle! It's from here...the paperweight thing. I did a gallery search for "turtle" and this came up...I knew "turtle" was familiar somehow!

Turtles symbolize longevity and also slowness. I guess their relationship in a way is kind of long and complicated but that has nothing to do with turtles haha

"Death keeps [the gifts] forever..." I suppose, when Jaegor is "put away," he still can't stop thinking about the stuff Lov has done for him in the past and vice versa. He misses him so much and longs for a time when their relationship was better...

Jaegor IS death, as you've noted. He PLAYS that role...they're both actors in a movie, really. But at the same time, he was put into that role (and now allowed to escape) by Lov, by life. Jaegor has been "banished" from life because he's playing the role of death. And that is why people think he's dead!

The last shot of them kneeling down, with Jaegor in such a vulnerable position, really shows just how their relationship's power dynamics have changed so much after the star scene...Jaegor is now the vulnerable one who is being locked away and hangs on to the past for dear life, and Lovarion, no longer Kuthiare, is now the Emperor, the arintel who killed a God.

The turtle in this gif looks a lot bigger (and alive) compared to the little paperweight in the picture I just linked above. The turtle here is actually alive and symbolizes the friendship Jaegor and Lov had when they were younger. It is alive because that's how Jaegor sees Lov: as someone who's truly alive, because he causes him to have feelings he otherwise wouldn't have.
