actually its pretty sad bc they dont actually get to show each other love for a large part of the story, there's a lot of emphasis on the idea that prolonged trauma and discrimination can utterly warp someone's sense of self and self-perception, and both adrian and yoona are victims of this.  so like, the reason why i say he's tragic as fuck is because he doesn't allow himself the ability to "feel" for her and "love" her for a long, long while, around 15 years in my story, because he inherently believes he's a monster and will legitimately kill her if he lets her in to him. wHICH IS IRONIC BC DESPITE HOW MUCH HE HATES HIMSELF he grows up to be this "confident" sadistic sultry attractive mess of a man, and a lot of his pain from the abuse and discrimination he grew up with is twisted into mutual hatred for the other party on his side. hes really obsessive over yoona in the story but this isn't portrayed as an entirely good thing, it can hamper her efforts of progression and makes him more antagonistic than his supposed role of a protagonist sometimes, but he's genuinely just trying his best lMFAO. what do you do when you're absolutely batshit insane in love with a woman you see fighting everyday just to survive, a woman who you've seen grow up through so much shit, who still has the will to continue on and somehow is untainted by the same darkness you've succumbed to yourself, as well as being a badass motherfucker, protecting her comrades, and still all the while having breakdowns, feeling her trauma, being vulnerable, etc, AND THEN DESPITE THIS you force yourself to hide your adoration for her? 

trust me. you explode eventually— that's what this scene is actually, when he finally snaps and njust implodes and goes 39ur-ierpioe98rtu-e8 all over her bc FUCK I LOVE YOU YOONA <--- in his words

but yeah he's putting on a show for like a good chunk of the story to convince him of his delusion of self-monstrosity while he also works tirelessly and devotedly to dedicate his life to yoona's safety and wellbeing. iTS LIKE, IM SKIMMING THE SURFACE BUT TRUST ME HES
