Description Apparently it's not bad enough that I slash my own country's history; I seem to have to mess with other histories as well. So here I have some Robespierre/Saint-Just from the French Revolution. Much love for this pair of revolutionaries and Robespierre in particular...even if he was responsible for a lot of deaths during the French Revolution.

After about a month of being interested in that time period, I'm so glad I finally drew a pic for this pairing (which is fastly becoming an OTP). Well, there ya have it. Not bad, not great, and hopefully Saint-Just will look better in the next pic I draw. He looks kinda like he fainted in this one. >.<

Oh yeah, funny/horrible side story: In the original version I mixed up the red and blue on the flag, and by the time I realized it, it was way too late to fix it. Anal retentive creature that I am though, I traced the whole drawing over on a new sheet of paper and re-did it. o__O

Medium: 0.7 mm mechanical pencil, 01 Micron pen, and some colored pencil.

I love how we've got Messieur powdered wig, and then Messieur gold earrings. (Sorry, I'm a bit sleep deprived.)

Sorry, a friend hacked into my account. The pose is incredible; usually it's such an awkward pose, but you pulled it off beautifully.

NOT BAD!! U REALLY capture this historical time period in such a unique way; who cares if u messed up the flag? I've done that several times in my French classes; ur not alone.

There's something sweepingly dramatic and almost epic about this tableau. The positioning of the flag behind them gives a significance beyond the personal to their personal drama. That you've refrained from adding colour anywhere outside of the actual flag makes it seem that the flag it self is the focal point of the composition, and that Maxime and Saint-Just are merely human illustration of France's passions and struggles.

Thank you very much! This was my first French Rev drawing, and I didn't know a whole lot about Robespierre and even less about Saint-Just, but their struggles in the early 1790s were quite sensational so I wanted to go for a pose that would be somewhat dramatic.

And yes, even though I drew the flag in the background, I wanted to make sure it really stood out since it was so important to Robespierre and Saint-Just.

Well, I'm not sure if you've seen it or not, but the guy who played Robespierre in a French Rev program on the History Channel looked pretty good. We could always kidnap him. As for Saint-Just...he'd be a bit harder but I'm sure we'd come up with something. XD

He did, didn't he? Though I didn't like his wig. As for Saint-Just, how about Francisco Bosch?

That Francisco guy doesn't look too bad actually. *just searched him on IMDb* He's young looking but not too young looking.

Very true.

Did you see the black and white headshot? That's my absolute favourite. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only guy who can compare in terms of beauty to Antoine since...well, Antoine.

Yes, the headshot was the one I saw, and he looks very spiffy indeed. He'd look great with long hair too. However, I'm sure if we ever suggested our plans to him, he'd head for the high ground. XD
