"Enchanted Oasis"
Software used: Vue Infinite 6, Poser 6 & Photoshop CS3
After going through quite a few of my old pieces, I decided to retouch this one as it's one of my favorites from three years ago. I pushed the limits quite a bit on my computer and my knowledge of Photoshop at the time to make it all happen. I would have to say from concept to finished product, this took about ten days to always two weeks to get everything the way I wanted. There are new projects I am working on currently and as you can see, this stuff takes awhile to complete!
New scenes are coming up in the near future, but for now, I will put some of my favorite pieces from yesteryear up for you to enjoy in the process. I hope you all like this one and stay tuned for MOAR very soon!

Fantabulous image, forgive me the use of such a word. I love the complexity of it, all the little details that create the realistic yet magical atmosphere of it. The lighting and colors are a feast for the eyes as well.

It was fantabulous that I didn't drop kick the computer out the window when I was done with this one. There is even more in the background that was hidden in the end with the camera angle...I was really shooting for depth and did what I could before having to settle. I think I spent almost 10 days in my spare time on this one. Thanks again for the great comment, I really appreciate it!

This is very cool - not only did you create a very interesting scene, but I really like the look of it... as if you had painted it with coloured pencils or something like that.
I bet it was a lot of effort to get it done, but it was worth it!

Thanks a bunch for the comment and stopping by! At the time I made this, there were several techniques I was using in the post work stage to get this look and feel. It is what it is, but at the time it was quite a bit of effort to set up, render, etc. Thanks again!

Oh dang, very nice! It's like, Survivor when they're voting people off, cept who would want to leave this scene?!
*crickets*
....That's what I thought. Lol.
Anyways, this is really cool, I love the colors and your fire balls/bowls. :]

Haha! Yeah, great balls of fire is right. If you look hard enough in the distance you can actually see Elvis! I didn't exactly plan that one out, but the dude gets around, what can I say? I wanted full scale prop assault when I made this thing and I must say I pretty much got...prop assault! LOL! Thanks for stopping by, Bobbi! I know you are chuckling over there, but my paintings might actually be more interesting to you! LOL!

Pretty cool scene! especially considering it was made a few years ago too. The poser model's lighting does seem a litte too well lit or evenly lit for the scene, as if there was another, stronger light source coming from the camera, but still - it's generally a very detailed scene with great colours and lighting, especially the nice trasition from the warm orange glow of the fire to the deep blue haze in the background jungle

MythArcana In reply to Chromattix [2009-04-07 04:33:22 +0000 UTC]
Hey, thanks for the comment and stopping by! Yeah, there are definitely reasons for some lighting inconsistencies cause the character is composited. The computer can't handle everything I throw at it with Vue and then a character dressed to the hilt in heavy geometry/materials. So, it becomes a game of manipulation basically. I got really burned out on doing scenes like this for years cause it just slips by everything unnoticed and unappreciated.

A very complex picture, looks really nice I cant find any negative points
That are quite a lot of light sources and objects, reflects ... I guess it was a lot of work. The sexy girl in the middle fits pretty good in it and give the picture a decent touch.
Keep up your good work!
P.S: You do requests for Magic cards ?

Well, thanks so much for the comment and interest! And you noticed the lights...I believe there were 26 lights total in Vue to light this thing. There is a little water in the foreground, so it killed my render times even though you can't see it very well.
I have been tossing around the idea of doing commissions and I haven't reached a conclusion yet. I'm learning digital painting with a tablet and most of my time is spent trying to move the cursor around with a pen. LOL I shall give it some thought, but the art on the Magic cards is pretty hard to beat for sure! Thanks again!

That's exactly what I said when Vue reported a 4 day render time! LOL! But, what are you gonna do? It's either do digital art or go mess with my Magic The Gathering collection. Hehe! Thanks a bunch, I'm glad you liked it!

Gee, if this is an oldie, I can't wait to see what you do next. Kind of reminds me of my birthday party last year, except the lady was about 80 years old with sparklers

ROTFL! Yeah, I know the feeling! When your idea of a strip club is having your buddies over to peel wallpaper down, you know you've had it! LOL! I just about reached the limitation of my computer with this one...and my patience. I have some more large scale ones like this, but I've toned things down a bit as I hate waiting to render for 6 days. Thanks for stopping by and let's hope this next birthday is more exiting!

that's why I stopped doing 3d, I killed my last computer that way!!! I hate waiting for stuff to be rendered. Yeah the next party will be cool, and I can't wait for the next great piece of art!! and no prob, I will be stopping by from time to time, oh yeah I got the pizza, Jessica said you owe her 14.75

Well, thanks once again! It's what they call an oldie but a goodie guess. I just about broke a spleen putting this together at the time and I told myself I wasn't going to do that again...but I did several times after that and my computer hates me now. LOL! Thanks again, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
