Description
AVENGERS sketch variant cover requested during the Fear Agent launch. This one's for Jiggy Cruz, who not only did a swell ambush interview for his Yahoo! fit to post blog, but also happens to be quite a special supporter of the local comics scene. He originally wanted just Spidey2099, but felt the itch to just go wild and add in the era's version of Venom.
I really have fond memories of the 2099 line. Spidey is hands down a fave, and remains to be a joy, especially since I ain't the biggest of followers (I think aside from the 2099 version, Bendis+Bagley's Ultimate Spidey is the only other that I really was fond of). Also picked up X-men and Ghost Rider 2099 (featuring fantastic art from Chris Bachalo). I really miss the line.

Lol When Spidey2099 came out waaaaay back, I thought it was gonna be one of those cheesy future things that would just end up as filler fodder and fade away heh (well the rest kind of did) but Spidey2099's pretty well done! I don't follow it but i appreciate how appropriately they conceptualized and designed it!
On your artwork, love the framing of spidey. I imagined it folded and it looks great especially the webbing! Hope Marvel sees this! I agree with Jam-Wah, you should draw this series!

you guys are too kind...really, thanks! If Marvel does put me on Spidey2099, you and Jam-Wah are getting some thank you prizes. Haha!
And yeah, the 2099 line, well, the base titles (Spidey, X-men, Ghost Rider) were pretty fun. It was I think when they started incorporating other characters into the concept that it slowly saturated. I haven't been able to check the last 2009-2099 Timestorm specials, so I ain't sure what happened there.

hmmm...i wasn't really into the 2099 version. i think Frank doesn't do well with future tech. i like my punisher at his base, animal self. a knife, an m-16, grenades, and lots of badass-eries. hahahah!

ooohhh
very nice
wish they'd bring back GHOST RIDER 2099 and have Bachalo write it! And maybe get Warren Ellis to write it!

I agree. Warren's the master of sci-fi and techno-babble. He makes his stories read like they're probable theories. And Chris...man, he'll just kill on Ghost Rider. Always loved his take on the flaming skull, of any version, hands down.

First up, this is excellent. The position of the webbing, the black-spotting... as a package, it just comes up trumps.
Second... Spidey 2099 is one of my favourite books. I only read the first year or so in UK reprints, but what a year! Peter David made O'Hara as humorous as Peter Parker, but sardonic rather than cheesy. Leonardi's work matched the setting perfectly and looked appropriately ahead of its time. Great stuff.
In fact, only certain styles suit Spidey 2099. Yours is one of them. If Marvel ever revive the line (doubtful), I hope you get a shot at it!

Hey man, big thanks for the very wonderful comment. Like I said, I'm a fan of the series, and it's great to hear from another follower. Truly made my day.
I agree, David's writing on Spidey2099 was one of the most enjoyable, it was dark, but not "I'm trying to be Dark Knight Returns" dark. And Leonardi, always have loved his kinetic style. There's something distinct in the way he draws his lines, and I really miss seeing more of his solid storytelling. His Daredevil and Nightwing were some of the most action-packed, and also showed he can do moody and drama.

He's working on Aliens vs Predator: Three World War at the moment. I'm not a fan of the franchise, but Leonardi's artwork makes it a very attractive prospect.

hmmm...him on a property like Aliens/Predator...yeah, not much of a strong mix there. I think Kelley Jones would be a great marriage. Now, if they put Rick on of the Valiant/Keystone relaunches, now that will be golden. Solar, Turok...especially Magnus, Robot Fighter...man, just the thought of it is awesome enough. haha.
