The day had finally come for Karina to test Finch over some jumps. She wasnt sure if she was supposed to be excited or nervous. This was the first horse she had gotten since having to sell her others, and she was worried that he wouldnt be able to jump high enough and that selling all her best jumpers was the end to her career.
Karina put the stronger bit in his mouth because she wasnt sure how he was going to react. She got on him in the indoor arena since it was chilly that morning. She had a few smaller jumps set up, ranging from 2'6" to 3'6". After warming him up she decided to start off over the bigger jumps to see what he could do. She cantered him up to 3'3" jump. She was nervous so the distance was a little long but she hoped that wouldnt make a difference. Finch charged up to the jump and jumped it like a 6' oxer with a 4' spread. At that moment, Karina knew that he was going to be something special, and that she would always need to use the stronger bit.
