Description Plumey Bitties, Dew Plumey (c) NanoBanana
Bittybones AU (c) Fucken-Crybaby

=== HOW DO I ADOPT A PLUMEY? ===
You just decide to and do! They are totally and completely free for anyone to adopt, so no need to ask (I'll always say yes). You can adopt as many as you like, just make sure to take care of them. You can write about your Plumey/Plumies or draw them, change their clothes, give them accessories, etc. The types described here are like describing the differences between a German Shepard dog and a Great Dane dog. They're all Plumies, just different "breeds", if you will.

If you adopt a Plumey, please make sure to credit me for the creation of the species and type. Also, DO NOT adopt them just to kill or maim them (or let other Bitties and creatures kill or maim them). Also also, DO NOT clip their wings. That's just cruel.

=== PLUMAY 2023 - DAY 20 ===
This type was inspired by the prompt words "morning" and "rain", which led me to morning dew. I went down a lot of metaphorical rabbit holes, so I hope this type is just as enjoyable to you as it was for me to work on! (Also, fun fact! I was working on this type while hanging out in TheJessofMess 's stream xD )

Dew Plumey
    Height / Wing Length: 6.4 - 8.1" (16.3 - 20.6 cm) / 14.8 - 16.6" (37.6 - 42.2 cm)
    Plumage: Usually dark with bright patches or stripes similar to blue jays or kestrels (any semi or highly complex patterns seen in any bird species are allowed); their colors are almost always blue-violet, blue, green, cyan, or a combination of those colors (no warm colors like red, yellow, or orange!); their head plume is smooth and rarely grows past neck-length
    Diet: Herbivore (usually only consumes dew but will also eat vegetables and fruit with high water content like celery and watermelon; no strong flavors though)
    Favorite "Food": Super clean water (not distilled water as it has no micro-nutrients!)
    Superstition: This type is said to have formed from the clean waters of the past and are thought to be the origin of some myths about water spirits.
    Traits: A bit quiet around others, but highly social and cooperative with those of their own type. They are generally very articulate and relaxed, rarely feeling the need to shout or raise their voice. Dew Plumies tend to be logical and practical, but are more than willing to let others be as expressive and idealistic as they want to be. They are never stubborn nor cling needlessly to previously held beliefs or assumptions when presented with sound arguments and are willing to politely debate when issues arise between themselves and others. Many can be described as rather "passive", but won't hesitate to exact justice when necessary. Dew Plumies don't hold grudges as long as proper apologies and reparations have been made. They like to subtly support those they care for and never make any obvious or grand gestures. One of their favorite pastimes is to nap or enjoy a hobby while leaning on someone they adore.
    Notes: Dew Plumies are the only known Plumey type capable of producing spider-like webs and even use this material to reinforce nests, make clothing, and construct small water containers. The thread is not sticky nor is it as strong as spider silk, but is excellent at gathering condensation when strung up in wide nets. Families are territorial of their preferred nesting areas and the dew-gathering nets that they have setup. Water gathered from these nets is stored in containers made of densely woven thread hidden within tree hollows or other similar areas with a decent vantage point that remain dry year round. These containers are small enough that, even when filled, can still be carried by a Dew Plumey if they need to move to a different nesting site or given as a goodwill gift to new neighbors. Receiving one of these containers from a Dew Plumey--usually by finding it on a windowsill or porch railing in the morning--is a good sign that the Plumey approves of how you care for your yard and home. Their nests are usually made of dried grasses, thin twigs, feathers, and reinforced with their own thread. If a nest becomes too damp or wet, it is discarded and rebuilt. Discarded nests can be collected without fear of retribution. Dew Plumies form their thread through two special hollow "teeth" inside their lower jaw that house the pools of magic and raw materials needed to create the thread. By weaving several threads together, these Plumies can produce their own fabric and clothes without needing to rely on leaves and other natural materials, or humans and Monsters for scrap materials. Watching a Dew Plumey weave threads or build a net uncannily resembles a veteran tailor. They may also "spit" these threads into the eyes of a pursuing predator or perceived threat, fleeing during the chaos afterwards. These Plumies are unable to drink from most water sources as these sources often contain too many pollutants or contaminants. Due to this, Dew Plumies live in cooler areas that regularly have misty or foggy mornings and where dew forms readily. They are known to migrate to follow these weather patterns and can be a reliable guide to local weather. Dew Plumies mainly fly by catching nighttime thermals of heat rising from the ground and rarely need to flap their wings. They have excellent vision at night, immense stamina and can fly continuously through the night. They can easily fly in the rain and are slow fliers, but make agile turns to dodge predators. Dew Plumies will not drink rainwater (or even filtered household water) unless it is particularly clean and free of contaminants! The same goes for the few vegetables or fruit they consume and condensation on structures (glass, plastic, etc.) is also off the table for them. These Plumies are largely nocturnal, but may be more crepuscular in areas prone to frost. They are almost never diurnal but may sunbathe on occasion to rid themselves of mites or molds that thrive on feathers that are left damp for too long. Outside of sunbathing, their normal body temperature is significantly cooler than other Plumey types. If a Dew Plumey accidentally stays out in cold weather long enough for frost to start forming on their body or wings, they enter a state of emergency torpor which causes they to "seize up" until the frost melts. This leaves them dangerously open to predators! If a Dew Plumey is found in this state, cover them with a box with one edge lifted slightly to allow some airflow. Do not attempt to move them as their body can become EXTREMELY delicate in this state! A dark colored box works best as it warms up quickly and traps that warmth inside, hopefully thawing the Dew Plumey out quickly. High winds and storms can also be very dangerous for these Plumies as their wings are made for calm air and angled, pelting rain can soak nesting sites. While scientists are certainly interested in the Dew Plumies' ability to produce thread, they are not captured often since the thread produced is not as strong as spider silk. They do not molt regularly, but will "stress shed" their smaller feathers if captured or forced to live in a stressful environment. Flight feathers are very, very slow to grow back! While migrating, they travel in small flocks (usually family members) and they have been observed drinking from the moisture that collects on each other's feathers on long flights. If a Dew Plumey net is destroyed accidentally, an immediate apology is recommended if the owner is nearby. Leaving a small gift of vegetables or fruit with a high water content is best if they aren't home. Destroying a net on purpose may anger a Dew Plumey and may prompt a local Dew Plumey community to effectively encase someone's home in thread while taking anything they find useful on the property. An encasement like this could take weeks or months to clean up. This type of Plumey CANNOT inherit (or "come with") the Glass-Bone trait! Plumey eyelights are round but can have "rings" inside or outside the main eyelight.
