To purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print, please click HEREAlthough most may tend to picture a jet-black animal when thinking about the black bear, they may be surprised to hear that these bears come in many different colors, ranging from blonde to dark black, and evrywhere in-between. Here, in Grand Teton National Park, on a beautiful October day, this beautiful dark brown black bear emerges from the forest and into the light.

the red is intensified by the sun. I caught it right at the moment where the light caught the bears eye

That bear's got a beautiful set of eyes on him/her. They look so warm...and should I say "inviting" when it's a bear? Ha ha...

Amazing shot that, well done
And the only way to visually tell the difference from a distance between a grizzley bear and a black bear is the hump on the shoulders, which is distinctly larger in grizzleys. Though if you see the fur, even if they are both the same colour, there is a different texture, the grizzleys is well grizzled.
Just thought that might be interesting for you

There are actually a few more ways than just the shoulder hump and fur to tell the difference... The biggest ones being that grizzlies have a distinct dish shaped face that black bears don't have. Black bears also have much taller ears than a grizzly. Grizzlies also have much larger claws than black bears.

Oh ok, I was going by what a program I was just watching about grizzleys, which compared them briefly. But thats really quite interesting

The dappled light on its back darkens it's so you concentrate on its face. Super shot!

its a pretty misleading photo.. this bear was pretty small.. maybe 120lbs.. and only interested in eating berries. Not scary to be around at all
