Description So I've been begging the almighty =Draggeta to show me how SAI works, and he had me choose something unpolished for fancy line art. I chose this piece of shi... I mean, this: It was my very first Photoshop attempt. More of a spur of the moment thing, but once started, I had to finish it. If you feel so inclined, please compare the two. This one's way better. No doubt about it.

Now that we have that out of the way... This is Astoreth Amell, my Dragon Age: Origins fan fiction heroine. If those robes are unfamiliar to you, that might be because they're not actually in the game. The original version was slightly different: there was a hood, and she was wearing a necklace. They weren't much to look at. The gradient background is replaced with a screenshot of Redcliffe, enhanced/messed up by a few PS filters. The shrug is also decidedly fuzzier, thanks to the wonderful =Draggeta , who used a similar method for his rendition of Anders. Makes you want to check it out, doesn't it? Go, do it. In fact, check out his entire gallery. For every piece he has, I may have five or so, but every one of his pieces is worth one hundred of mine. Yes, it's that unfair.

My eternal thanks go out to the following deviants:

for explaining PaintTool SAI to me and being enthusiastic about my work.
for the eyelashes brush, the lace brush and the vector foliage brushes. You can find them here respectively: [link] / [link] / [link]
for the faaabulous corners. If you want them: [link]

Hehe, "pleases". I don't know what's going on with me today, nevermind me.
Your boyfriend has a talent, then! The only talent mine has is for hockey. Yay for me. [I'm being mean, he's not that bad] He helps me with ideas for my fanfic... that's something

I was being suggestive on purpose, really.
Oh, maybe you'll like his DA2 fanart: draggeta.deviantart.com/galler… I think the Varric one is my favourite. He's really damn good, but his work is keeping him so busy, he has no time to draw anymore. Well, you never know when you might need somebody beaten into submission with a hockey stick... I'm just saying. Are any of those ideas viable?

Ooooh I loved the Merril one! Real life sucks lol, but at least that means he has work to do, which is nice all things considered.
He's peaceful, but sometimes some people needed it haha. Yeah they are! I'm going to incorporate them further in the story

Aw, Merril is really bad-ass there, isn't she? I like it. So different from that cutesy wide-eyed little elf we all know and... well, maybe not love all that much. Indeed! Having a job in these hard days is a very good thing. We've got an economy problem going on here.
That's great! Mine does give me ideas, but usually for entirely new stories. That's probably why I've got seventy stories and counting.

Yeah I kinda got lost in your profile yesterday haha. But that's good, you got plenty to chose from

When you visit her house! "Can I get you anything, Hawke? I have... water." So sweet. I just don't really like anybody in DA2, so it would be unfair to claim that I actually love her. I found Carver rather amusing, since he's such a cranky bastard. He's like me after a bad night's sleep.
You can just disregard the stories about Neverwinter Nights 2, Jade Empire and Mass Effect, I suppose, so that will leave about uh, sixty, fifty-five. Then Astoreth does Ferelden is one big story in chunks, which also cuts it down by sixteen. It looks like more than it really is.

Her banter with Isabela is awesome, she is totally clueless about the sex stories she is implying I never had Carver in my party, I always go for the rogue Warden/Hawke. It will be my next pt!
Does he help you with those two? My bf know the basic storyline of the game because I spent about 2 hours telling him (as we say here, "Santa paciΓͺncia", which roughly translates to "holy patience" - having time and patience enough to do such a thing) so he can come up with pretty interesting takes on my story.
I'd like to publish my one shot but my beta is MIA, so I'm still waiting for her reply.Β

Aw, cute. Kind of like Alistair used to be in Origins. I'm a mage all the way! All day, every day. It's fun.
He doesn't really help me with AdF anymore, no. The last one was a 45 page whopper and he keeps forgetting to read it. It's fine, I'll do it on my own. He played the game, so he knows what's what more or less. Sometimes he'll inadvertently drop a brilliant suggestion. I only loosely follow the Origins thing anyway. Basically it's one big sex scene with a bit of plot here and there.
Noooo! That's too bad. Also a bit rude, I suppose, but people tend to forget how important such things can be to others.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DefinitionOfDestiny In reply to Natmonkey [2014-03-18 20:00:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but Alistair eventually got there, Merril wonders and wonders and doesn't get anywhere, poor thing.
Oh my boyfriend often "forgets" to read my new chapters. And they're only around 6 pages. Men.
Sex scenes with plot are awesome it doesn't get boring as fast
And guess what? I had a previous beta before her. I asked her to be my beta because my first beta stopped replying. Well something could have happened, I'll wait a few more days. She also writes, so if she's trying to avoid me I'll know MUAHAHAHAH

Natmonkey In reply to DefinitionOfDestiny [2014-03-18 20:23:06 +0000 UTC]

And how. He looks so cool and capable in the comics. Hawke will just have to teach her, then.
Geez, such dedication. Smack him with his hockey stick!
I think that too. Unless there's too much sex; then that gets boring. Sounds impossible, but it's true. Especially if the scenes are overly repetitive.
Ugh, seriously? Well, if you need a beta, I'd be happy to help. It's just a matter of fishing out mistakes and such, right? I once did a beta job for ElissaCousland on FF. She also wanted my opinion on a sex scene with Alistair she had written; I gave it and she totally ignored it XD. At least she wasn't a dick about my pretty much saying it would work better if it was totally different.

DefinitionOfDestiny In reply to Natmonkey [2014-03-18 21:12:51 +0000 UTC]

He's a total badass in the comics, but still has that goofy side every now and then. Not my Hawke, she's Anders's hostage
He doesn't bring it home!! Oh and if you check my reviews in ff.net you'll see how good he is at them. Just look for the comments with the fewest words with no profile pic
I've yet to read one of those. Usually the stories I read have little or no sex at all (regarding ff.net) - except yours haha, but they're in the right amount and awesomely described, I quite enjoy them.
Yeah Oh you would? I would just send you the one shot, I'm hoping my beta comes back and helps me with the neverending story. It's kinda sucky, it just gives some background but doesn't add anything necessary to the mainstory itself. Yeah basically I just need someone to see where I messed up and to tell me if something needs to be improved. Hm never read anything written by her. Oh I don't ignore my beta's advices lol, and if I don't think they're right I explain to them why I think I did it in the first place, but we always reach something halfway and everyone is happy. Except for me when I don't get a reply D:

Heh. "My name is Alistair Theirin and I'm the king of Ferelden. Son of Maric the Saviour? ...I see you're not convinced." I'll have my Hawke teach Merrill then. She'll be the most eager little puppy in no time.
Try a frying pan . I'm guessing he's the ricardoc.alves who only says how much he loves it XD. That's sweet, but it doesn't help overly much.
I once read this classic erotic novel, The way of a man with a maid. It's really S&M'y, so not really my cup of tea, but still. So the first scene is pretty hot and quite novel, but then the second one comes on and you get a sneaking suspicion; by the third you know he does the exact same thing every time. Be inventive, man. I'm glad you enjoy my smut. It's my speciality.
Yes, of course. I have nothing to do, so I can get back at you fairly quickly. She is a great fan of Leliana and most of her stories centre around her. Well, you're the writer, so it's your prerogative to just do whatever you like. It's your story, after all. Your vision might not be the same as the one your beta thinks you have. Still, if you need my help, just say so. You can go ahead and created a DocX link in FF just in case.

I like that one part when Varric is climbing the rope to get in the Crow's prison and says they'll have to wait till he opens up the gates because the rope isn't strong enough and Alistair asks, "Is he calling me fat?"Β
You got it! Last time I was like "YAY a new review!" and then... "I really like this chapter". Yay, thanks a lot honey. The good thing is I can get a review from him when I talk to him about the chapter I've just posted, and he does say interesting things. English is not his cup of tea, so that's why he keeps it short lol.
I do enjoy your smut :3 I know who to ask for help should I have to write such a scene

I haven't been able to read them, actually. I have them, but not the program needed to read the files XD. I'm just going to buy them sometime. I love books anyway. Hahaha... Aw, Alistair. He's so adorable. I just want to hug him and pet him and love him forever.
XD Yes. I know what that's like. Someone I didn't even know kept talking about how they didn't want Jowan to go. Well, tough titties. They stopped reading after he left the story, even. Tsk, tsk. I can't be expected to keep everybody in. Before you know it, I'll have Alistair and Loghain dancing the tango at the Landsmeet. That can't happen. Oh, I see. As long as he makes himself useful...
Yes. I'll be around for tips and suggestions.
It would be my pleasure. No, don't say that. Oh, well, you have my address. You can always send something there.

Ugh I spoiled you a bit lol. I have the program, it's called CDisplayEx. I'll buy the library edition once it's outΒ Β  I love books as well, but damn they're getting expensive... Sometimes I have to go for the ebook. For free. Because I'm poor. It's not the same, but all I want is the story. But when I can I buy them.
I've seen online that some people dislike that he's king in BW's canon. I kinda like it. He's the handsomest king Ferelden's ever had *fangirl moment*
When I read reviews I'm hoping someone says something about my writing style, or if my characters are... in character, or if they sound believable. Reviews like "WOW great chapter" are nice, but they don't really help me improve. I once had a bad review saying I should give more detail to battle scenes, and a few chapters later the same person told me action scenes were where I was most comfortable, they pictured it just fine. I was happyyyy Β Seriously? Come on, Jowan usually dies anyway lol. Unless the story is about him. Yeah, fight the rebels! That tango scene reminded me of Alistair telling he wouldn't put on a dress and dance the Remigold for Cailan. It was awesomeΒ Β He's useful when he's actually helping me. He once told me to kill Alistair, no one would see that coming. Yeah. How about no?
I don't know if my story will have any smut. Mostly because I've never written it, and in part because I'm not sure it's going to happen. For another one I have in mind I might need you *wink wink*
Yes I do. You're not the boss of me, lalala.
Oh, okay. I'll give it a quick review and I'll send it to you. It's not much, anyway. It's about the ritual night and how all the characters are feeling, yada yada. Just some background.

I don't mind spoilers. You know, I flippin' hate reading stuff on the PC anyway. I'll just wait for that 3 in 1. Same here. I LOVE FREE EBOOKS. My father and I go to a book market at least once a week and there you can buy neat (old) books for one or two euros. You can really score. I've got more books than I can fit in my room. They're everywhere.
Well, that's too bad for them, then. They'll have to write their own fan fiction in which he is not. I'm sure there is plenty out there.
Yep. I try to say such things whenever I review something, but sometimes all you can do is squeal and yell about how awesome something is. So more of a helpful critique than a bad review, then? If it helps, that's fabulous.
Some writers have him join the Wardens. I turned him over to the Circle and lost a few readers, hahaha. It's their loss. His part isn't done yet. Heh, I remember that bit. His first really funny remark, I think. Haha, yeah, let's kill off the hero of the story. It's true, nobody would ever see it coming.
Yeah, from what I've read of your story, it's not slutty at all. I think it has more depth than that. Always happy to help.
Ah, the ritual. Delightful. I have my own take on that one, but it won't happen for a while. I'm on the bit where they go to Howe's estate in Denerim. It's hilarious when you find that maidservant blowing one of the soldiers XD. I'll check it out.

I hate spoilers. D:
That's awesome, I want that here Even though I still have The Stolen Throne to finish, then The Calling and Asunder (all eBooks), and a Philippa Gregory book I got for Christmas. I'm a busy girl, I can't find the time to read properly
Oh yeah, screw them. In my headcanon Alistair is king with my lovely Elissa (that stuff in my fanfic doesn't happen, they have a happy ending) and they rule awesomely. Though I like to take the basic storyline and add a few details, like what I'm doing. I have in mind a sequel already in which there is no basic storyline, so it's gonna be *cue Alladin's song* A WHOLE NEW WOOOOORLDΒ  Β
Well yeah. It was helpful indeed, but I felt bad the first time I read it. Yeah I try to give helpful reviews as well, but sometimes I'm so pissed I'm all "WHY DID SHE DO THAT, IS SHE CRAZY? APOLOGIZE!" So yeah. Not helpful. But I tend to leave a review in every single chapter I read, so amidst all that something must be good.
At least you didn't kill him. What the hell people, writers write because they have a story to tell, if you're reading just because of one character then don't read at all.
He's crazy, I could never kill Alistair. Except in the Darkspawn Chronicles, that terrible DLC.
Nope, no slutiness. Only a few Isabela remarks, but totally innocent. I'll take that as a compliment lol.
Yeah, I was shocked, I didn't see that one coming. So I presume you're going to expand that scene?

Natmonkey In reply to DefinitionOfDestiny [2014-03-19 23:33:25 +0000 UTC]

Me neither; I'm reading about seven books at a time. There's just sooo much interesting stuff.
He'll be king in my own canon too. Oh, he just can't wait to be kiiiiiiing! How will the sequel work then? You just write as you go along? That'll be interesting, I bet.
Well, I'm sure they all appreciate that you even take the time to post a review. Most don't (*cough* cunts *cough*).
Who, Jowan? Nooo, I wouldn't kill him. I love that guy! He's hilarious. Some people's reasons are just unfathomable.
That was the weirdest thing ever. Every time I got approval from one of my minions, I expected it to make googly eyes at me. Still, it was an amusing enough take on the story.
Innocent? From Isabela? Wow. Well, as long as she bounces along nicely.
For sure! I'll have Astoreth barge into the room, kneel beside the maidservant and *bam* double fellatio! No, just kidding. She'll be on the mission with Sten, Zevran en Alistair. She and the two love interests are going to spy and snicker over it, while Sten shakes his head and tries to get those perverts to move on. "Don't be so foolish, kadan! You do this all the time. We must move on, before we're caught."

I can't read more than 1 book at the time, I end up confusing the stories lol. It happens a lot with some of the fanfics I read.
I sometimes get random ideas as I'm writing, so I have this notepad where I write those ideas down. They're like guidelines, but I have a pretty solid story already in my mind.
Yup. Honestly, is that so time consuming? Geez.
Yeah, I quite enjoyed it. Minus the Alistair thing. And the fact that he got in Leliana's pants. No, Alistair+Elissa 4evah.
Of course she bounces, with that attire...
LOOOL! Though your first option would seem interesting. I bet that man wouldn't even tell the others there were intruders

I hear you. I most get that with series that I watch.
That's good! Traditional methods . Now you can't lose them anymore. I wrote the anti-elven/dwarven rivalry bit entirely by hand in the middle of the night. Someone challenged me to do it, ugh. I hate when that actually gives me an idea that keeps poking me so hard I can't sleep.
Of course it is! That's like two minutes of their lives, if that, that they will never get back. Have some sympathy.
Barkspawn! Why Alistair would name his mabari this, is anyone's guess. He must have read the Penny Arcade comic. I get it though; they would make a nice couple, all fan-alliances aside. She could teach him the ropes in the bedroom, I bet.

No, I guess not. The maidservant might get jealous though and just call the guards to get even. "Stay away from my man, bitch!"

You're right, I shouldn't be so selfish I can only pray to be forgiven now.
I loved Barkspawn! I was like "Why on Earth didn't I remember this??" That she would, hehehehe. And he never got to actually know our lovely warden (they died on the joining, I think), so he didn't have anyone to flirt with him. Besides Leliana.
But then everyone would know she was doing nasty things to him!! She would just shut her mouth and enjoy the sexy time

Yes, you had better get on your knees and beg for forgiveness! How dare you and such. The nerve. Rabble, rabble, rabble.
Yeah... Morrigan is out, Wynne would just be awful for that and Zevran is a dude. Although that last option would have pleased me to absolutely no end at all.
I don't think those soldiers are really big on discipline and rules. Their Howe's, after all. They would all applaud her before attacking our intrepid adventurers XD. And afterwards, there would be a gang-bang. Yeah, she'd be better off keeping quiet.
