Well, I only found out about the community rules after a while in here and I'd already posted some "illegal" stuff.
Then I got into an argument with someone (whom I don't recall, since it was so long ago) who reported every single thing I had in my gallery and... nothing happened.
Truth is: I'm using the official pics for...erm...humor? I mean, I'm not even claiming anything. I doubt a couple of line's worth of text and a black frame grant me ownership of anything, save maybe the funny idea which crossed my mind at the moment.
I mean, I hardly waste any time on motivationals, and I think anyone can tell I'm not drawing anything myself. ;D
Why shouldn't DA allow the upload of something without stapling the word "COPYRIGHT" to it? It's not like people can legally register their things (their art) here. (or can they? D: IDK!!) Or maybe this is just a silly, stupid thought of mine, so nevermind. XD
But I've never, not even once, tried to sell anything (I still don't understand why ANYONE would sell a print with motivationals...??), never claimed anything, always disclaimed (might have forgotten one or two, meh) and basically just did it for the laughs.
I've seen people stealing other deviant's stuff and claiming it as their own. I've seen porn pics uploaded as "artistic" (ROFL yeah righ).
Come to think of it, fanart - be it traced, copied, or merely based on the original and drawn with the person's own style - is always some form of copyright infringement... :/ Methinks. I mean, it's the usage of someone's idea...
I've seen (well, skimmed through) community guidelines, which sometimes contradict each others. And the enforcement isn't perfect. There's PORN pictures lying about, for Pete's sake.
So I do wonder... even with stamps and signatures and stuff - why make such a big fuss about it, when a person does it "right"?
I'm not passing on anything as my own, never wanted to, never will want to. This is just a place to have fun, interact, appreciate some real art from real artists (some people out there just can't realize their doodles aren't meant to be, yet still post them XD nothing wrong with that but... I donno, some people just put up hand-made crap on purpose, you know?) and most importantly, interact with NICE people who can have nice conversations and are into the same fandom I am.
So I totally get where you're coming from, but I hope I've cleared out my reasons as well. :3

Uh, sorry if I sound like a prick, but it doesn't matter if you're not claiming it as your own or not selling it, it's still copyright infringement. As soon as you upload a piece to dA it's said to be copyrighted to you. Look at any deviation and it'll say "copyright "username" 2010-2011" for example. That's because this is an ART website. The whole point is, no matter if this is all in good fun, there's a better place for it. Such as photobucket or something, not deviantart (and that "hand made crap" is nicer to see than 2 minute posters, by the way).
The mods take a while to get around and go through all the reports, like you said there's a lot of illegal stuff on here which don't comply to the regulations and guidelines, and if you're really in such a huff about it, then maybe you should help out and not post things that don't belong here.

Yeah, I agree. Though lately I've been lucky and found few anti-Winry stuff. I mean, people are allowed to hate, but sometimes they reach obnoxious levels of stupidity and idiocy which I simply cannot understand. Oh well.
