I know of a good Paper Mario text editor. It's called Kirigami 64. You should check it out.

It only works with the US version of the game, but I'm using the European one.

So, the original music with the new graphics. I actually wanna see that in action, like how it works.

Heh, I saw that. I'm the one that mentioned Mario's little grab animation hadn't gotten retextured. XD
Oh, i'm also curious about one thing- Mario and luigi I swear have three sprites to their run- I thought they were limited to a two sprite run?

The running/walking animations of almost all characters in the game use three frames. One with their feet together (which looks very similar to standing), one with their feet far apart and one in between them.

oh- so you just edited their running animations seperatly from Mario and Luigi's standing animations. By the way- love the little flail foot effect you gave them. XD

Well, N64's sound capabilities are really good, so it's totally fine. The only problem could be... voices, I guess? But who cares?

Yeah... or maybe additional sound effects, like when Mario jumps. But I don't know if that's even possible...
Anyway, just editing text would be great already

If you COULD find a way change the music/SFX for the project, then it would be safe to say that your revamp project would be similar to the way the Super Mario Advance games revamped the originals that they're based on.Β You know, like the character's voices whenever you toss an item, get a heart, or enter a Mirror World door in SMA:SMB2?Β Those voice-SFX weren't in the original (NES) or even in the other revamp of the original (SNES: Super Mario All-Stars).Β
But if you could... what SFX base would you use?Β Thousand-Year Door's, Super Mario 64's, etc.?

I guess I'd go with TTYD... but more realistically I'd leave that part to someone else who knows more about it and do the stuff I know about

I asked only to see what you would want, if you had a choice in the matter.

Of course it is (there's people who make ENTIRE NEW GAMES out of ROMs) but, as you said, it needs hacking. Sometimes even for the graphics it needs hacking, so you're really lucky of having that plugin I guess...?
It's okay, really! I really love how is everything turning out!
