Description
This is my vision of what the world would be like if the American Revolution didn't happen. My idea is that seeing that the American colonists were on the verge of rebelling against Britain, the British in the late 1760's and early 1770's hammer out a compromise agreement which satisfies the colonists and keeps them from rebelling. It basically allows the colonies in North America representation in the British Parliament and autonomy over their affairs. Over the course of the 19th century, the American colonies get more and more autonomy and eventually, get Dominion status like Canada has in real life but are closely bound to Great Britain. With their North American colonies secure, the British spend the 19th century expanding their holdings throughout the world and by the present day, control all the territory they had at their height of power in real life plus the Continental U.S, Alaska, Hawaii and even Japan the last of which became a vassal to the British in the late 19th century and then a protectorate in the early 20th century before becoming a Dominion in the mid 20th century. As you can guess, the British Empire/Commonwealth is the main power of the world.
As for the other powers, the European Union is an alliance of Europe's nations that came together out of fear of Britain's expansion throughout the world. While a viable superpower and Britain's main adversary, they've been forced on the defensive and are focusing on holding onto the territories that they have left. Luckily, they've got a strong ally in Tzarist Russia which supports the E.U in order to keep the British in check and exerts a lot of influence over the E.U. The European Union itself is a mixture of monarchies and constitutional monarchies while Russia has become a bit of both.
There's also the Empire of Brazil which arose during the early 19th century after Portugal was conquered by a coalition of France and Spain for supporting the British. During the invasion, Portugal's royal family fled to the colony of Brazil and set up their monarchy in exile. When it became clear that they weren't going to be able to return home, they formed the Empire of Brazil and since then, it has grown in size with extensive help from the British so now Brazil controls much of South America and has a constitutional monarchy system in place. As for Portugal itself, a relative of the Spanish king was installed as the new king of Portugal whose since had Portugal become Anti-British.
Next is the Ottoman Empire. Due to being in deep decline for various reasons and due to being pressured heavily by the Austrians and the Russians, the Ottomans allied themselves with the British for protection and since then, the Ottoman Empire has become a glorified vassal of the British in all but name with the British having military bases on Ottoman soil and heavy influence over its economy, government and society. However, the Ottoman Empire HAS gone through numerous reforms to fix its problems and has mostly succeeded. It's greatly helped that large oil reserves were discovered in the late 19th and early 20th centuries which has made the Ottomans quite wealthy and has aided in the development of the Empire. Currently, the Ottomans have a Monarchy system where the Sultan wields considerable authority but there's a parliament of sorts in place sort of like what Imperial Germany was like.
Finally, there's China. During the 19th century, the Qing dynasty still lost the Opium Wars and suffered the same problems that it did in real life. However, in this alternate timeline, the Qing after losing the 2nd Opium war in 1860 engaged in a series of successful reforms to fix the Chinese Empire. It took a long time to achieve of course but by 1911, the reforms had paid off and China was once again a major power. It helped quite a bit that the Qing dynasty managed to play the British and other powers against each other not to mention gave autonomy to regions of China that were less then friendly towards the Qing. Following the death of the Dowager Empress in 1908, the Chinese Empire was renamed the Chinese Dominion to celebrate the dawn of a new era for China and currently, China is still ruled by an Emperor but has a Diet/Parliament that rules jointly with him.
The world itself consists of two alliance sets. The first one known as the Triple Entente consists of Britain, Brazil and the Ottoman Empire while the second known as the Continental system consists of the European Union and Russia. Tensions are high and the world appears to be set for another world war. While nuclear weapons are not an option for either side due to a series of treaties that bans their use, a new war would be quite costly for both sides as the last one in the 1970's devastated much of South America, Africa and Southern Asia and led to the deaths of millions of people on both sides.....

So would the US have the same problems as it does today? Cause I heard that Britain was having second thoughts about having slaves during the American Revolution when it occurred.
